2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Oakes (10935) - Savusavu, - FEB 17, 2010Light brown veering into amber colour. Has some toasty chocolate, light wood and hop notes. The blend clashes - bitter hop with toasty chocolate notes can work in some instances, but here the two great tastes just do not taste great together.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (3259) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 2, 2011
650mL bottle poured deep brown-amber color with big beige head that settled quickly to a very fine lacing. Aromas are roasted malts and traces of chocolate and coffee. Taste is a malty sweetness with bitter chocolate and hops in the finish. This beer is very well balanced with a nice mouthfeel, modest body and robust flavors.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scubaguy (230) - Alberta, CANADA - OCT 8, 2010
The flavor has some roasted malts, some burnt coffee notes, light carmel, toffee. It even has a little bitter dark chocolate. This is pretty different. But it seems to work rather well. It’s well balanced nothing stand’s out more than the other.
The aroma has some roasted malt and toffee and light hop notes
Pours a mahogany color and a tan head that quick disappears to a thin ring. It has a decent amount of carbonation
It finishes just like a pale ale. There is some bitterness that lingers around. Another great beer from these guys.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 manuchampions (1217) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 15, 2010
Bottle from Brewery Creek (old rating 2009). Pours dark brown with off white head. Slightly roasted aroma. Palate is thin, with a hint of watery bitter chocolate and roasted malt. Finish is short an uninspiring. Damn, I guess even a decent brewery have their mis-steps.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Powertrip (999) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 1, 2010
Gorgeous layers of brown and black make up the look of this one...with a minimal head to boot. Standard nose, hints of roasted malt and vanilla. Lovely cooked malt hits the palate then things thin out quickly. It was a stretch to pick up hints of hops and only some dying herbs made themselves evident near the end. The finish settles into some smooth vanilla but there is a big gap in the middle of this one, despite the gorgeous look and decent nose.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 MrRoss (646) - Delta, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 14, 2010
From BCLDB 39th & Cambie. Body was a clear, dark brown beneath a skimpy ivory head. Aroma was VERY malty, as was the taste. Decent mouthfeel and finish. Only slightly above average, being a blend of two other average beers.

Pours dark brown with a reddish tinge. Flavour of roasted malts, caramel and light hop notes. Underrated.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 pintbypint (1973) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 6, 2010
650ml brown bottle. Cola coloured beer with a small creamy off white cap. Modest lacing left on the glass. Nose has light chocolate malts, hint of nuts. Flavour has some roasted bitter notes, hint of metal, earth. Light hops at the end leave some citrus behind, some roasted aftertaste. Medium bodied, smooth textured, dryish brew. Not bad, takes more for the porter side of it’s blend. Each bottle sold represents 1 new tree planted in the Okanagan, according to the tag on the bottle’s neck.
