650 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a stem glass. Pours clear caramel with a small tan head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. On the nose, there are notes of caramel, brown sugar and nutty malts, along with a touch of herbal hops. The flavour is moderately sweet with nutty malts, brown sugar and caramel, along with touches of apple, herbs and spice. The finish is long and malty with hops and a slight pepper. On the palate it is medium in body with a smooth milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a decent Doppelbock, with nice balance and nutty malts. 2013-05-04

Bottle. Murky brown red pour. surprisingly short soap scum head. Nose of raisin butter tarts, booze, and a bit of yeasty cheese funk. Bit of beef bullion. Some Diacytl. Soft carbonation. May be infected. I’ll drink the rest anyway.

Bottle. Sweet cereal grain aroma with some pumpernickel and a touch of hay hops. Clear chestnut under a tawny, of white patch and ring. Sweet nutty caramel flavour with faint noble hops and light bitterness. Plenty of dried fruit. Medium body, moderate carbonation, clean finish.

bottle. Poured hazy dark orange-brown with thin creamy beige head. Roasty, nutty aroma. Full rich mouthfeel with an oily texture. Tastes like is smells, roasted malts, hazelnut, raisin notes. A slightly warming alcohol finish.

Very creamy and smooth, leaves the palate clean, slightly sweet, but not too sweet. Does not have high alcohol flavour. Caramel notes. Best doppelbock I’ve ever had.

Deep clear mahogany body, slightly bubbly with a tan cap. Strong malt nose with molasses, toffee and ripened prunes. Flavour is ardently malty, tart and sweet. Feels fat, heavy and oily in mouth with a correspondingly lasting aftertaste.

January 3, 2014. 650mL bottle from LCBO some time ago, pulled from our ’cellar’. Raisins in aroma and taste. Lovely brown colour in glass. Lingering lager taste very minimal. Very nice dopplebock.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Clear, auburn brown with beige head. Subtle bitterness and sweetness leads to a complex, but lacking in a good balance. Seems it doesn’t quite know what it wants to be. I like it, but it’s missing something I can’t quite put my finger on. Some caramel, nuts, and resin.

Rousse foncé collet éphémère. Caramel. Très malté. Sucre d'orge. Légèrement banane. Fine chaleur d'alcool. Légèrement Épicé. Cannelle. Girofle. Céréale sucré. Très bien.

650ml bottle, dark copper-amber color, with a big frothy bubbly beige head, nice spiced yeast, caramel, biscuity, toasted malty nose, with some light fruitcake, molasses, dark dried raisin, plum fruity accents, with a brown sugar, nutty, toffee note in the aroma follows through on a medium- bodied palate with a nice biscuity, caramelized, toasted maltiness, french toast character, with some english pudding, toffee, dried raisin, date, sponge toffee flavours, within a brown sugar, caramel coated nut backbone, leading towards a warming, toasty, biscuity maltiness, toffee, sweet caramelized brown sugar finish.
