Aroma is sweet malty scent with slight hop smell in there

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle. Pours a deep red amber with a tan head. Red apple fruity aroma. Flavor has red grape and molasses. A touch of oxidiation, as I suspect this bottle is aged a bit, but itís not bad. Finishes clean. Not bad at all.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
650 mL Bottle. Deep copper-ruby body with a frothy beige head settling to a tenacious layer leaving spotty lace. Intense sweet aroma just about stings the nose; molasses, toasted malts and malt-mash being the dominant, crystal malt, sharp floral notes. Intensely sweet dark beer with an imposing taste that is more like a mix of blackstrap molasses and dark fruits than anything else, crystal malt aftertaste with an innuendo of clove, bittersweet treacle and hops linger tapering off to a likeable salty-sweet taste. Its best attribute is the mouthfeel but it struggles in all other facets. A dichotomous brew; I will not be captivated into buying that again.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: clear amber, short light tan head diminishing rapidly to a thin cap, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: molasses, dark fruit, caramel/toffee, mild nutty, light chocolate. (7/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, mild bitter, mild tart. (7/10) Medium body, lively to moderate carbonation, drying lightly astringent warming finish. (3/5)
A cool enough October day to justify something a little darker - there was, after all, frost on the windshield for hockey practice at six this morning! Not a bad version of the style, although both the head and the body are somewhat less than indicated in the guidelines. Pretty similar to Celebrator, actually, if slightly lighter - so Iím guessing the name similarity isnít accidental... However, it manages to pull off a higher ABV despite the lighter flavour, so kudos for that. It doesnít really improve by warming, though, so unless warm watery molasses is your thing, donít take too much time with this one. (13/20)
