Pours mahogany brown thick creamy off white head that stays Aroma is sweet malty scent with slight hop smell in there First sip is sweet malty: caramel and toffee notes a bit saltiness and a bit fruit like. Very good beer. Don’t taste the alcohol much Aftertaste is like caramel apple. Caramel fruit esters.

Kauge (1322) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAY 18, 2016
Bottle from LCBO. 7%. Pours brown with red hue, head’s light tan. The aroma first comes across as black olives, then toffee and prunes, apples. Tastes toffee and caramel sweet with brown booze moments. Body medium, carbonation mellower side of active, finish a bit warm and somewhat dry. Overall alright.

22 oz bottle. Pours a deep red amber with a tan head. Red apple fruity aroma. Flavor has red grape and molasses. A touch of oxidiation, as I suspect this bottle is aged a bit, but it’s not bad. Finishes clean. Not bad at all.

Papillon (394) - Sudbury, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 10, 2016
650 mL Bottle. Deep copper-ruby body with a frothy beige head settling to a tenacious layer leaving spotty lace. Intense sweet aroma just about stings the nose; molasses, toasted malts and malt-mash being the dominant, crystal malt, sharp floral notes. Intensely sweet dark beer with an imposing taste that is more like a mix of blackstrap molasses and dark fruits than anything else, crystal malt aftertaste with an innuendo of clove, bittersweet treacle and hops linger tapering off to a likeable salty-sweet taste. Its best attribute is the mouthfeel but it struggles in all other facets. A dichotomous brew; I will not be captivated into buying that again.

Pours clear dark amber with an off white head that has some slight lacing. Molasses and plum aroma. Tastes of dark fruits, hops and chocolate that has a dry finish. Excellent beer will definitely have it again.

Tranquillity (1709) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - APR 2, 2016
Bottled. The body color looks like a coke, with a small light brow head. The aroma is sweet, licorice and chocolate. The taste isn’t full, but satisfying and very sweet with nuts and caramel.

650ml bottle - pours a hazed dark brown with a 2 finger tan cap that lasts - aroma is slight until it warms then you get the roasty malt and some dark fruit yeast esters - rich mouth feel, big bodied - front side is roasty malty nutty then you get a bit of licorice with fig/prune fruits mid palate - long roasty wet finish - filling but nice

UXO (1289) - CANADA - OCT 25, 2015
Appearance: clear amber, short light tan head diminishing rapidly to a thin cap, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: molasses, dark fruit, caramel/toffee, mild nutty, light chocolate. (7/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, mild bitter, mild tart. (7/10) Medium body, lively to moderate carbonation, drying lightly astringent warming finish. (3/5) A cool enough October day to justify something a little darker - there was, after all, frost on the windshield for hockey practice at six this morning! Not a bad version of the style, although both the head and the body are somewhat less than indicated in the guidelines. Pretty similar to Celebrator, actually, if slightly lighter - so I’m guessing the name similarity isn’t accidental... However, it manages to pull off a higher ABV despite the lighter flavour, so kudos for that. It doesn’t really improve by warming, though, so unless warm watery molasses is your thing, don’t take too much time with this one. (13/20)

Clear dark amber with red tinge pour and frothy light tan head. Aroma of toffee, roasted malts, fresh baked bread and slight nuttiness. Taste of malts, toffee, bread dough, yeast, slight hazelnut and a touch of caramel. Full bodied, medium carbonation, slight hops on the finish. Beautifully balanced beer, a pleasure to drink!

Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of caramel, graininess and earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of caramel, earthiness and light fruitiness with a smooth lingering earthy finish.

Pours clear, dark, coppery brown, with a small, frothy tan head. Very little retention. Aroma of whole wheat bread, caramel, yeast. Taste is sweet, earthy, hints of roasted oats and molasses. Full bodied, with a thick, oily texture. Carbonation virtually non-existant. Finishes with a lingering sweetness and oily texture. Good brew.
