3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rwgould (297) - Vancouver, British Columbia, - JUL 1, 2012650ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a solid black with a foamy beige head. No visible carbonation. Aroma: Malt, caramel, spruce, dough. Hints of chocolate. Palate: Medium bodied, smooth start, slightly oily and dry finish. Lingering aftertaste but not super dry like most IPAs. Taste: Sweet start. Less sweet finish. Not a super complex flavour. Very drinkable, for a beer of this style.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 thebhoy (55) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 17, 2013
Bottle from the LCBO. A very nice black IPA that very much tastes like a really hoppy porter. With that in mind, aroma and taste follow suit: roasted barley, caramel, and malt on the nose and in taste with a nice bitter spike of piney citrus from the hops. Pours a deep-brown/black with a tan head that holds up fairly well--some lacing on the glass. A nice solid drink that makes a triple threat of good IPAs from Tree Brewing (variations of the Hop Head brand).
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 24, 2013
Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours an opaque black with a small off-white head. Roasty nose, a little cocoa. Medium body, heavy roast and a massive, rough and unsophisticated bitterness with close to no aromatic qualities. Very harsh. Not how I like my IPA’s! 230213

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 cyrenaica (941) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 18, 2012
650ml bottle
8.8% ABV
Part of the 2012 Tree Brewing feature at the LCBO. I tried this beer on June 12, 2012 after purchasing from the King/Spadina LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer pours a coca-cola black colour with a half inch tan coloured head. The aroma is roasted malt, weak citrusy hops, and coffee. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is roasted coffee grains, decent citrusy hops, although no strong grapefruit presence. Still, an excellent beer
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Reimer96 (582) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 29, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 8, 2013 Pours an opaque black with a nice brown head that dissipates quickly but leaves some foam across the top and some sticky lace. Aroma is a citrus/floral chocolate, roasted malts and coffee. Taste bitter dark cocoa that transitions into chocolate sweetness that has a very smooth and gradual warming from the 8.8abv and then it throws some citrus hop bitterness on the very end. Very complex and full bodied but not heavy.
4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 andrewturba (446) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 28, 2012
Pours a very dark brown/black with decent tan head diminishing to a nice sticky ring that laces the glass with a light covering that seems to stick around. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malt, some coffee and light grassy bitterness. Flavour is a mixture of bitter citrus, chocolate, roasted malt and sweetness that blends together quite nicely and for being 8 percent abv its not a boozy beer at all.
