4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 30, 2011 2011-03-09, bottle from BC Liquors on Robson St., Vancouver, 8.3% ABV, 7-5-8-5-15=40
Dark amber color, hazy, with medium sized creamy head. Strong caramel aroma, some hops, light apples. Strong body, with caramel and toffee flavor, and enough sweetness; very strong bitterness, some bitter oranges and a lot of resins evident mostly in the final. Very long final. Sweeter than I remembered. Pleasantly aggressive.

Dark amber color, hazy, with a generous, compact and persitent head. Nice aroma, toffee and hops, the hops are green and grassy. Good body strength; it has a good toffee flavor, with some sweetness; strong bitterness, but the hopping, even if it has some qualities, is not penetrating. Still very good.
2010-03-23, draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver, 7-5-8-5-16=41
Cloudy orange-amber color; nice creamy head. Nice hop aroma, less powerful than the bottled one, citrusy hops. Good toasted malt and toffee flavor, with some residual sugars on the tongue, and a powerful hopping. Very strong final, resiny, citrusy enough and a bit creamy too. Long final, excessive but well built.
2010-03-14, bottle, 7-5-8-5-15=40
Cloudy red-amber color; small sized creamy head. The aroma is light, creamy, even with scent of Belgian yeast, and timid fruity hops. Strong body, good toffee flavor, sweet, with caramel; strong bitterness, with evident resins and light fruits, citrusy hops. Solid, even if not exciting.

pretty good. clean. big malt with good hoppyness. bit too malty for my taste in this style, gets a bit too much towards the end but the high bitterness helps with drinkablity. good standard DIPA without being too impresive.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured slightly cloudy bright orange. Nose: bountiful and brilliant hops, fresh as warm towel from the dryer. Lovely malt background also accompanied by butter cream and spring grass. Taste: caramel malt hits first then hops play about. A slightly strong sweet layer coats the mouth and becomes dominant. It gets stronger as she goes...remiscent of grandad’s toffee. A nice touch but a touch too much. Finish: reappearence of the hops and butter cream. Excellent stuff but just the smallest margin to sweet.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to presario for this. Pours beige amber with a white head. Aroma is pine, hop and a little cardboard. Don’t know if this sat a bit. Taste is fantastic. Man I wish Ontario would start making beer like this. Smooth hop bitterness, pine nuttyness. A little floral on the back of my tongue as well. Really well balanced beer, very much enjoyed this.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is my first beer that I have tried from Tree Brewing and let me tell you it won’t be my last. Doubt I can get it in Ontario but I’ll try. Pours a deep amber/pumpking colour with a creamy, pillowy, good sized head. A sweet aroma of perhaps banana but spruce/hops too...Medium body that was lightly bitter. Lively carbonation and a nice long, hoppy finish. Overall I was quite impressed.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle thanks to presario
Appearance : Clear amber with small head.
Aroma : Fresh leafy and resinous hops. Notes of mangos and passion fruits. Some malty caramel. Notes of dried apricots.
Taste : Fruity and bitter. Bitterness is rather light considering the amount of hops. Finish is a bit warm with some alcohol as it warms up. Slightly mineral. Finish is also a bit fruity.
Overall : This was a very good DIPA. Among the bests in canada that’s for sure. I liked the hops but to me it was a bit too sweet/caramel. Great beer ! I think the regular Hophead is a tad better.

Bomber. Pours a hazy red amber, with a moderate white head. Aroma of citrus. Tastes mostly of hops... pine, citrus, some fruitiness, some earthiness. Lots of flavors in there. Overall very good, one of the better IIPAs out there.
