What’s better than one shot of espresso? Two shots of espresso! This riff on Percolation, our coffee stout, is bolstered by nearly 30% more coffee than her younger sister. In addition to Stumptown Finca El Injerto coffee, we added a healthy portion of Sumatra Mandheling. The Finca’s flavors of cognac and chocolate meld beautifully with the earthy nuttiness of the Sumatra. A rich, sweet, and less roasty base beer contributes the ideal backdrop to this bold and vibrant treat for the coffee and beer lover alike!

Absolutely delectable aroma and flavor. Lots of coffee and chocolate notes. Bitterness is tempered and balances nicely. My only complaint? Reminds me of Wormtown’s Norm, though slightly less decadent... but still left me wanting coconut! (please note this beer is not available for sale at Julio’s. It was poured from growlers at their most recent tasting/beerfest)

Taster at the source. Pours nearly black with a brown head. Aroma is full of chocolate and dark coffee. Mmmm. Dry toasty stout with dark chocolate and coffee flavors.

Thanks to jlindros. Ethiopia Yirgacheffe version. Pours black, essentially no brown showing at the edges. Nice foamy head of light brown cream. Pretty good lacing, particularly for a growler pour. Very good retention, too. Aroma has a big shot of coffee on top of a good amount of chocolate. Really nice roasty coffee. Some fruit but it’s more of a chocolate, roast mix. Creamy and nice. Reminiscent of Vietnamese Speedway, which is probably my favorite coffee stout. The flavor follows the aroma. Lots of coffee, seems a bit fruitier than the aroma. Chocolate isn’t quite as big, and it could use it. I think that chocolate base would be there if they pumped up the strength a bit. There is some light milk chocolate with some some dark chocolate depth. Nice, creamy feel, particularly for a growler pour. Smooth, relatively low carbonation. Thick feel for the abv. Another excellent Treehouse beer.

Growler with popery. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee. Aroma is very coffee forward with a nice roast character and medium nuttiness. Light creaminess and medium light chocolate notes. Light fruitiness. Pours black with faint brown notes on the edges. Moderate, thick, creamy, dark tan head with above average retention that leaves a small layer forever. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly roasty with moderate milk chocolate and light bakers chocolate. Moderate strong coffee notes with a bit of nuttiness and fruit. Medium light bitterness with faint alcohol notes. Light sweetness with faint dark caramel and toffee. Mouthfeel is medium to medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Medium light stickiness in the finish. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice coffee stout. Great coffee character with a good base beer behind it. Not too big and sticky, nice malt character.

Huge black pour with so smoothness. Another great treehouse rendition. The delicious coffee notes make this a perfect beer for any time of day!

Sampled at Julio’s Spring Beer Fest. Poured black with a tan head. Eye opening espresso aroma. Secondary chocolate malt and vanilla. Flavor is overwhelmingly coffee. Chocolate and vanilla bean hint at sweetness. Full bodied. Fantastic!

Growler. Black pour with tan head. Takeover by roasted coffee aromas. Roasted flavors, mostly coffee, wish this was in my glass every morning t work.

Flip top bottle. Coconut version (not sure if it is the same or another entry). Very subtle coconut (which is fine by me). Chocolate, roasty, coffee, and some vanilla.

Dean was so welcoming! Pours thick dark black coffee in color with a dark caramel head. The aroma is a huge shot of espresso to your nose, so wonderful! The flavor is big coffee on a beautiful thick creamy body! This beer is incredible bringing coffee, roasted malts, and a great balanced body.

Growler fill at brewery. Pours black with brown head. Nose and taste of super rich coffee, roasted chocolate, earthy toasted nuts, vanilla bean, coffee creamer and a touch of sweet milk chocolate. Medium/full bodied.
