Bottle 4.8%. Clear yellow/golden pour with a weak white foam, little retention. Aroma is plain barley, grasses. Very little in terms of floral hops, or malts. Taste is faint sweet malts, and very plain and grainy. As much a pilsner as Molson Old Style, but a drinkable, smooth tasting lager.

Bottle. Pours light yellow with light white head. not much smell. tastes of malt. not much hops. not really a pilsner. needs smoother malt, and more crisp hops. not bad though if you don’t call it a pilsner...

piscator34 (1959) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - AUG 13, 2009
Canned sample. Gold in colour with medium carbonation. Muted aromas of pale malts, herbal hops, and a bit of sulphur. Very mellow in the mouth with a soft malt-pudding flavor. Any hop flavors are very subtle if they even exist at all. Clean finishing and medium bodied. A bit bland, but there’s no weird chemical astringency or adjunct flavors to be found either. One could do much worse in the generic pale lager category.

humulushound (242) - British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 19, 2009
In pilsner glass. Yellow-gold with two fingers of white head, good lacing. Light straw-grain aroma with a hint of sub-acid fruits. Flavor is subdued sweetgrass malt, hints of subacid fruits and astringency with a crisp, dry, lightly bitter finish. Very drinkable. Fits the crisp and refreshing, albeit plain, pilsner style with greater complexity that many of the more common entries.

Light yellow color. Smells like a standard pilsner. Decent taste. Fairly smooth taste and finish. Nice.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2009 The flavour and palate are what stonad out about this beer. Otherwise it would seem just another pilsner. The malt flavour comes on very mellow and finishes evenly with no abruptness in the flavour.

Clear, darker gold in colour with a smallish head. The nose was only a little hop and a little malt. Flavour was very average although decent enough, but the mouth was thinner than I’d like. Things faded away at the finish.

Let me start by saying I’m more of an ale guy. However, this is a clean, fresh brew. 500ml can. This one is neither as malty or as hoppy as the real Euro Pilseners I’ve had but then again it has it’s own charm. This beer is simple, it has no objectionable qualities and a nice, if mild hop flavour.

Beer looks slightly hazy pure gold with a one-inch noisy cap with not bad retention, for a pilsner this isn’t to shabby looking. Aroma seems mild and made from noticeable hops, and a dry wheatiness, smells ok but a touch to mild for my liking. Flavor is crisp and light comprised of mild citrusy hops, a nice light smooth malt character and finishes dry and clean. Nice simple brew that any one can enjoy yet still quality made, ok for BBQ’s and days at the beach. Review done while watching Hannibal rising.
