3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My bottle, shared with Jerc, Blankboy, Hogtown Harry, and GregClow. Decent sweet porter aroma, some smoke. Dark brown, small white head. Nice roast, and sweet taste. medium mouthfeel. Nothing crazy, but a decent tasty session porter that maybe comes off as a little watery and bland.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc & tupalev -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours a murky reddish-brown with a spare long-lasting off-white head. Mild aroma of caramel malt, chocolate and hops. Flavour follows the aroma along with some smoke but is not as good as I expected and is slightly watery. Light bodied. An O.K. beer but ultimately dissapointing.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2007 November 2007. Bottle @ the brewery. Dark brown bordering on black body with a small tan/khaki head. (3+) Roasty burnt aroma (6+). Flavour has a similar burnt malt character, lightly roasty, very mild acidic tang to the roast. (6+) Underlying brief muted glimpse of caramel. Average palate. 6+/3+/6+/3/12-13 - 3.1

February 2006. Bottle. Black body, small creamy beige head. Dark malt aroma, slightly ashen, notes of hot chocolate. Flavour is thin and watery with a bit of almost sour ashen charcoal in the malt. Dilute. Thinnish palate. Mediocre. 7/3/5/2/10 - 2.7

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jer and tupalev - tupalevís bottle. Poured almost opaque deep ruby-brown with an average mottled foamy light brown creamy head. Aroma of warm roast espresso beans, bitter chocolate, nutshells, dry straw - quite bitter and a little drily grassy. Taste is very dry, slightly dusty and chalky - milk chocolate, quite a bit less bitter, has a very quick finish with a hint of sour cherry and a faint metal tang. Mouthfeel dry yet creamy, slightly flat, with an at-best average body. A very smooth dry porter, but perhaps a somewhat old bottle?

650ml bottle. Pured out 3 samples. Mine had a permanent half inch head on a dark chestnut beer. Rich and thick aroma of alcohol, milk chocolate and raisins. Dusty with a long dry finish. Very present fruit and chocolate.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Fantastic mocca aroma with hints of dark caramel and roasted walnuts. The flavor was a burst of sweet chocolate followed by a dry hops and raisins. Velvet texture with a fairly dark body. A great beer that gets better with each sip.

UPDATED: SEP 18, 2006 Rerate (7-3-6-4-13=3.3): Chocolate, raisins, cookie dough, light toasted malts in the aroma. Clear, dark brown, cola-like body is topped by a low but lasting, tan head. Some dark malt presence is notable along with chocolate tones and doughy malts. Finishing bitterness is pronounced but never overwhelming. Medium light body with moderate carbonation that engages the tongue and a somewhat creamy texture in the mouth. Tumbler. Allowed to warm from fridge temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, Sep-06).
Original Rating (4-3-5-2-9=2.3): Caramel and creamed corn vie for attention in the slightly unpleasant aroma. Clear, dark brown cola-like appearance with a thin ring of off-white head. Bland, slightly sweet, nutty borwn ale-like flavour with some minor roastiness sneaking up on the backend. Smooth, creamy texture, low carbonation and medium-light body. Bottle sampled with Lubiere, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Olivier_MTL, Rastacouere and Yowie.
