Pours a dark opaque mahongany with a foamy medium tan head that keeps it’s shape well. Strong chocolate and coffee aroma initially, hazelnut maltiness. Very appetizing. Flavour is clean and smooth, if a bit thin in the finish. Black Coffee, bittersweet nutty chocolate. Mild bitter finish.

Bottle - Toasted malts and chocolate with a bit of bread. Jet black with a big rich beige head. Light roast malts and some chocolate. Very light on the palate and at the abv very sessionable. I think they accomplished what they were looking for.

Average porter. Pours black with ok lacing. Taste has touch of anise and some roast malt. Finishes bitter with some sourness. One time wonder for me. Bottle.

Clear deep dark ruby copper, off white head fades fast. Fruity dark malt aroma. Sweetish dark fruits and strong roasted malt taste, some caramel, mild chocolate and coffee notes. Softly carbed, medium bodied, low hopped. Rich, smooth and lightly bitter. Bordering on a stout. Good, not great. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

Large bottle from BCLS at 41st & Cambie in Vancouver. Color is almost black. Actually it’s slightly translucent dark ruby red in front of moderate back lighting. A generous tan head, but it fades fast. Lots of roasted malts, with very light bittering. A good winter ale...I mean porter. ;-)

341mL bottle poured a dark reddish-brown color with an abundant tan head that settled quite quickly to a nice lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and some nutty chocolate. Taste is roasted malty sweetness with some chocolate and a very mild hop bitterness in the finish. This beer is decently balanced with good carbonation, but the body is a little on the thin side for a porter style beer.

Bottle. Pours a very dark but clear amber. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Tastes of roast malt, chocolate, and toffee. Medium-bodies with light, well-balanced hop notes. Very good!
