“Mellow Moon is the perfect complement to this great weather,” says Tod Melnyk, President, Tree Brewing. “The first taste of pineapple each summer is a memorable experience, and now we’ve bottled that so our consumers can enjoy on any occasion.” Unfiltered to create a naturally cloudy brew, Mellow Moon Pineappe Hefeweizen also has flavours of citrus and clove that lead to a pleasant, dry mild hop finish. It pairs well with crowd favourites such as ham and pineapple pizza, spicy Indian cuisine and lemon meringue pie. Pours a really hazy golden / slightly orange colour with a frothy white head. Aroma is of banana, cloves, very slight pineapple and orange scents. Taste is mildly sweet with no real bitterness to speak of. Lighter body, good carbonation, and thin mouth feel. Overall a decent hefeweizen.

Bottle: Poured a light hazy orangey color ale with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aromas of wheat malt with some notes of pineapple are quite singular. Taste is also a mix between some sweet wheat malt notes with some pineapple juice which more or less works well together. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Not sure what to make of this experiment but probably won’t seek again.

Pours a slightly murky light gold with a good quickly settling head and moderate carbonation. Aromas are of pineapple, light caramel, bananas and clove. Tastes are tangy pineapple, cloves, wheat, with a very enjoyable sweet swallow. Overall, this beer says "Summer" like few I have ever had.

On tap @ Tap & Barrel - Coal Harbour. Hazed golden pour with a white head. The aroma is certainly tropical and fruity. A bunch of dried, sweetened pineapple on the nose. Bread, a touch of banana, and some very faint citrus. Flavor is quite juicy, actually. Tastes a bit like dried pineapple and pineapple Lifesaver candies. Decent banana and bread. Mild citrus and a hint of bitterness. Not bad.
