4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
(650ml bottle) Purchased at Hillside Liquors. I think I grabbed the last bottle? So, in advanced, I have got to admit that I was skeptical - yet intrigued enough to buy a bottle. Pours a medium almond coloured head atop a reddish copper body. Nose of coffee, dirt and ash. The flavour has depth - the coffee actually amplifies the hop bitterness. Orange piney hops with a real leaf chewiness and grainy coffee sand sludge through the finish. This could be my favorite beer of 2013. Great work Tree!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dear god, I totally did not think this would be a good combination, but hooooooly hell was it good. Pours cloudy amber, medium head with plenty of lacing. Aroma of citrus, nuts, pine. Plenty of coffee taste, with notes of citrus, toffee, nuts, spices, and just the right amount of hops to make this a perfect blend.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Hazy orange Amber, offwhite lace. Minerally espresso aroma with hop overtones, which seems weird. comes together on the palate: roast, Berrylike coffee notes, almost but not quite vegetal notes, broad hop profile. Mellow medium full creamy body. Dark Ipa without the "dark" and with some unusual complexity. Interesting

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Murky light brown with mountains of rocky foam. Lots of coffee in the aroma, with promise of hop character. Taste is really heavy on the coffee, from start to finish. I worry this will keep me awake. There’s really not too much else. You can find a bit of piney/resiny hop character in there, and it does feel like you’re drinking a beer...but it tastes like coffee.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Muddy brown colour with light white head. Aroma is huge notes of coffee, pine, and floral hops. Taste is coffee roast, faint hit of pine bitterness, toasty light bitter finish. Nice, not a lot of hoppy IPA character but tasty nonetheless, especially if you like coffee (full disclosure I like coffee:)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - Espresso and grapefruit. Clear copper with a decent beige head. Espresso roast, pine and grapefruit with a nice bitterness. I laughed at this now I love it. Better than most Black IPA’s I have had. Well done.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
650ml bottle pours an amber color with a finger of white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by the espresso with some grain and hop notes. Taste is a coffee and hop bitterness with a caramel malty sweetness. If the espresso were a little more subtle I would have scored this higher. Just too much coffee in this for my tastes.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Hazy golden body, lasting white head. Holy Moly! Massive vegetal green coffee aroma and flavour here, earthy undertones, pale malts, solid bitterness. Very well done, but it won’t be for everyone.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Fluffy head on dark amber. Smells like I poured my IPA into a dirty coffee cup. A beer for brunch? Strong coffee flavours fron start to the long aftertaste. Not a big pleaser to start. Kind of grows on you. Kind of like IPA filtered through cold coffee grounds. Hops, espresso and a caramelly blend note.

3.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Visual: Pours pale cloudy sarsaparilla brown with a decent creamy head, decent foamy retention, sticky lacing, lots of fast and slow micro bubbles, lots of sediment in the bottom of the bottle.
Nose: beautifully fresh roasted coffee beans, A. (lvl-10)-pungency
Attack: sweet sour roast
Mid-palate: light coffee sourness, (lvl-5)-sweetness, (MAIN) roasted coffee, nuttiness, dark chocolate
Finish: thin airy mouthfeel, pine-grapefruit hoppiness, roasted bitter coffee-malt finish.
Summary: This one has distinct layers of flavours with a great balance of bitter-sweet-sour-burnt-hoppiness. Quite solid but a little thin near the mid-finish.
