A rich full-bodied ale dominated by chocolate and roasted malt flavours. A subtle bitterness leads to a long creamy finish on this aphotic beauty.

650ml bottle from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario. Near black in colour with a tan head, light lacing. The aroma is roasty, dark chocolate, oats. The flavour is lightly sweet, roasty, some lactose, bitter chocolate. Finishes long, roasty and sweet.

This is an interesting stout. It's more toasty/smokey than I was expecting. Burnt toast/roasted grain/wood smoke appear more prominently than the usual chocolate/coffee, which is an interesting diversion. It's a touch watery but still nice stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A great all around easy drinking stout. Lots of roast, coffee, and bitter cocoa. Smooth mouthfeel, perfect carb. Roasty finish, medium bitterness. Subtle soy, and loads of roadty coffee, malts and cocoa notes. Rock solid.

Beautiful jet black pour with just the merest hint of a Coca-cola red edge to the body. Nice off-white head, but it disappears quickly. Lots of roasty malts and dark chocolate on the nose. Some lactose as well. The same follows suit on the tongue. A bit of a bitter coffee background. Cocoa nibs on some swallows too. Overall, this is what it says it is, an old school, solid, wonderfully drinking stout. Yum!

650ml bottle. Pours a fairly large frothy, creamy looking tan head and has dark brown appearance with ruby highlights. Thick lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate and earthy hops. Flavours are quite malty, lots of dark roasted malts, chocolate and cocoa notes. Good retention and average carbonation. Nice and smooth creamy mouthfeel.

650 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a very dark brown with moderate-sized mocha-coloured head. Aroma is big on chocolate with a little fruitiness and a bit of coffee. Flavour is also quite chocolatey with a hint of vanilla, as well as notes of tree fruit and light coffee. Does have a bit of wateriness. Overall quite nice though.

I like stouts, but not 100% this one. jet black 1 finger head, mollasices, a smoked smell bitterness & chocolate. That’s also what you taste in a big burst b4 toneing down and going watery. full bodied.

0.65 bottle. Clear, black color and a large, creamy, beige head. Aroma of roast, dark malts, dark fruits, hints of licorice, vanilla, and coffee. Taste is fruity, sweet, malty - clearly a stout and not a porter. Full body, creamy texture, and soft carbonation. Finish is very fruity, insanely tasty - reminds me of the Belgian type of stouts. Overall a really nice beer, a lucky find in the pool of mediocrity.
