Where is the berry? This beer is disappointingly plain. I had the porter before and this doesn’t taste much different.

A clear brown porter with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light raspberry notes. In mouth, sweet chocolate with sour cherry finish, raspberry jam, light bodied, OK. OttBottShare March 2014.

Ruby brown with a white head. Aroma is raspberry, chocolate, caramel. Medium-light bodied, a little thin, fruity on the palate with only a hint of roast. Taste is raspberry, caramel, hint if chocolate. Not bad but I would have liked a little more substance.

Decent porter, very few (to none) raspberry notes. Not a great beer, probably would not recommend.

Couleur noir/ambrée avec un col moyen beige. L’arôme des framboise avec un peu du chocolat. Le goût est similar et bien équilibré.

Bottle shared by DanielCoor Dec 2013. Pours brown to dark brown in color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, fruity raspberry, a splash of black coffee, earthy notes. Another beer where it is just too thin and watery on the flavor. Maybe if there were more body it would work.

Bottle. Pours dark clear reddish brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate raspberry aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium chocolate sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a fruity drinkable beer.

22 oz. bottle shared by DanielCoor- thanks, Danny! Pours a clear, dark brownish amber color with a small khaki head. Aroma of raspberries, nuts, chocolate, toast, and brown sugar. The flavor is a toastier version of the same; the raspberry leans more sweet than tart and is subtle throughout. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a toasty mouthfeel. Not bad to try but not sure I’d order one.

22oz bottle, shared by DanielCoor. Clear light brown color. Thin khaki head. Good thicker lace. Medium body. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Good raspberry jam and chocolate flavor. Moderate sweet, and light tart taste. Good raspberry porter!

Bomber to taster (shared by DanielCoor). Looks solid; a fairly transparent dark brown with thin lacing somewhere between off-white and light beige. Smells of dark malt, chocolate, and raspberry. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. This one exceeded my expectations.

A beer that tastes like it can’t decide if it wants to be a porter or a lambic. The porter base is quite nice; if a little watery. But the tartness of the raspberries just doesn’t blend harmoniously with the porter. Instead of accenting, it falls into a tug-of-war on the tongue, and nobody wins, least of all the drinker. Aroma is very nice: A solid porter scent with only the barest hint of raspberries, nice roasted malt and carbonation in the smell. Appearance is a fair bit less opaque than I’m used to seeing my porters; pours a dark cola brown, with a slightly higher opacity. Taste is the real failure of the brew: A middling porter with mild notes of caramel and roasted grain getting steamrolled by the high tartness of raspberries. Without the raspberries I’d bump the Taste score up at least three points, possibly four... but it’s just a bad choice for this beer. Palate: Thin, watery on the tongue, with a minerality and lingering carbonation and astringency on the mid-back of the tongue and palate. The only finish is the slightly metallic raspberries and light coffee/chocolate notes from the roast. Overall: Unless you’ve ever found yourself blending a lambic with a porter in your own glass, raving like a madman to anyone who’ll hear you how good it is, avoid this brew. And if you have? ... keep doing that, your results are probably better than this beer anyway.
