3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
650ml bottle from LCBO. Served in a pint glass. Aroma is weak, mostly of hay, slight hints of raspberries. Appearance: Dark golden brown, no carbonation, extremely foamy, thick beige head. Looks like someone dropped a cloud on top of it. Palate: Medium-thick bodied, smooth, slightly astringent finish. Taste: Very sweet, with slight hints of bitterness in the finish.

2.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
A beer that tastes like it canít decide if it wants to be a porter or a lambic.
The porter base is quite nice; if a little watery. But the tartness of the raspberries just doesnít blend harmoniously with the porter. Instead of accenting, it falls into a tug-of-war on the tongue, and nobody wins, least of all the drinker.
Aroma is very nice: A solid porter scent with only the barest hint of raspberries, nice roasted malt and carbonation in the smell.
Appearance is a fair bit less opaque than Iím used to seeing my porters; pours a dark cola brown, with a slightly higher opacity.
Taste is the real failure of the brew: A middling porter with mild notes of caramel and roasted grain getting steamrolled by the high tartness of raspberries. Without the raspberries Iíd bump the Taste score up at least three points, possibly four... but itís just a bad choice for this beer.
Palate: Thin, watery on the tongue, with a minerality and lingering carbonation and astringency on the mid-back of the tongue and palate. The only finish is the slightly metallic raspberries and light coffee/chocolate notes from the roast.
Overall: Unless youíve ever found yourself blending a lambic with a porter in your own glass, raving like a madman to anyone whoíll hear you how good it is, avoid this brew. And if you have? ... keep doing that, your results are probably better than this beer anyway.

Where is the berry? This beer is disappointingly plain. I had the porter before and this doesnít taste much different.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle - Roasted malts, chocolate and slight raspberry. Jet black with a thin brown head. Raspberry dominates right out of the gate followed by the roasted malts and chocolate undertones. A bit sweet which sits on the palate but not bad.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear dark copper, foamy tan head fades instantly. Mild aroma of chocolate malt and berries. Lightly sweet milk chocolate malts up front, followed by a light tart berry fruitiness, pretty thin. Soft carbonation, light bodied, low hopped. Watery towards the finish. Nice enough. Next! LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

Odd duck for me. Pours black with a foamy head and some lacing. Nose is earthy maybe some roasted hints. Aromas of ight roasted malts, some very faint smoke, some sweet raspberry. Tastes are med-light sweet and very light bitterness. Foamy in the mouth with very aggressive carbonation. Decent enough, but not really a porter for my senses.

650mL bottle bought in Prince George, B.C. Quite heavily carbonated. Raspberry taste is somewhat understated which is fine by me. Iím tasting some sort of smoky flavour as well. Overall it is decent but I wonít be buying it again anytime soon.

Pours a clear darker brown with a reddish tinge when held up to the light with a big short lived head and minimal lacing. Aromas are earthly, light tart raspberry, roasted, chocolate, coffee. Flavours are chocolate, tart raspberry, slightly bitter and dry, finish is somewhat uneventful. Interesting beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a clear dark red color with a small brown hat. Aroma od tart raspberries, coffee and roast chocolate malts. Tastes like chocolate raspberries with some bitterness from the cocoa flavors. Finishes a bit flat, decent offering though.

650ml bottle. Whoa. Crazy carbonation. Poured gently into a glass, and itís 80% head. When it settles down you have a huge beige head over a dark chestnut brown beer. The nose has corn based cereal notes, dusty earthy notes, faint cocoa, and a prominent aroma of raspberry juice. The taste is almost identical to the nose, but with the addition of some straw like pilsener notes. Everything that Iím enjoying about the raspberry element of the beer is being diminished by the faint cocoa of the malt. I think bigger chocolate notes would have worked better, and itís awfully thin bodied with maybe a little too much carbonation. This beer just doesnít work for me.

650ml bottle, dark brown color, with a thick fluffy tan head, nice chocolatey, raspberry, black coffee, light tart earthy red berry nose, with a roasted, black, chocolate, toasted malt note, and a faint dark bitter chocolate baking bar, sublte mocha accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice chocolatey, raspberry, coffee, mochaish, light black forest cake character, with a mild black. roasted, chocolate, toasted maltiness flavour, with a faint cocoa powder, burnt toast, tart redberry fruity undertone, leading towards a dark bitter chocolate, lingering roasty bitterness finish.
