thornecb (1054), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Jul 27, 2008 Pours Dark amber into a shaker. Quick head recedes to hug rim. Caramel malt aromas. Slightly sour caramel upfront with a lasting slight bitter finish. puboflyons (373), New Hampshire, USA Jul 20, 2008 From a 12 fl. oz. bottle with an expiration date of Jan 09. A handsome amber-brown pour with a decent off-whote head and lacing. Slow and steady carbonation. The aroma is of malts and sugar or caramel. Good mouth feel. The taste is both bitter and sweet (no, not bittersweet). There is also a touch of hops and the brew finishes dry. Quite enjoyable. tjw (5), , Massachusetts, USA does not count Jul 15, 2008 A nice medium hoppy aroma, with just a little sweetness to it. Flavor was good, nicely balanced. The thing that I didn’t like about this beer was the excessive carbonation. All the bubbles reminded me of champagne. BigBen2120 (554), Gardiner(52 miles from Allagash), Maine, USA Jun 25, 2008 12oz brown bottle (screwtop) from Hannaford in Gardiner. Pours a hazy dark amber with a good inch of off-white head. Smells like earthy spicy hops with some biscuit malt. Tastes like grassy, earthy, and citrusy hops with enough biscuit and caramel malt to balance it out nicely. Medium in body and moderate in carbonation. Very drinkable. Nothing exciting but a solid EPA for sure, and definitely something I’d be open to going back to. jason (1500), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 25, 2008 Bottle. Poured a deep copper color with thin head. Aroma is lightly bitter hops and malt. Flavor is sweet malt and hops with a lighlt bitter finish.
