COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fortunato is a Belgian-style Trappist Ale brewed in the tradition of the Trappist monastery/breweries in Belgian. Fortunato is what we call a "living beer". By that we mean the yeast has not been removed from the beer. The consequences of keeping the yeast in the beer is that Fortunato will continue to age and become more complex as time goes by. This wonderful complexity produces a very wine-like profile so common with the Trappist style of beers.

On tap in mid-Michigan, August 2012. Compared surprisingly favorably in a head-to-head to a few other other self-described "Belgian" microbrewery offerings. A welcome Belgian flavor similar to comparable Brewery Vivant Belgian ales. While not quite as enjoyable as the Brewery Vivant offerings, the Fortunato is not far behind. Slightly-cloudy reddish brown, small head. Its initial taste is slightly sweet with a nice Belgian spice/yeast flavor; good mouth feel, medium body and carbonation; nice finish - taste of spices and a pleasant lightly-sour bite. Among the better Michigan Belgian ales of similar style and alcohol content.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate banana, candi sugar, bubblegum, yeast, and a hint of floral notes. It pours a transparent copper with a small off-whit head that quickly fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with sweets with candi sugar and Belgian yeast. The finish has moderate banana along with faint bubble gum, spice, and a hint of citrus tanginess. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Dark amber color. Very modest head for a Belgian. Lots of Belgian spice taste. Commercial description says that the yeast has not been removed, but my bottle was crystal clear. All-in-all, I enjoyed this brew, and would buy it again.

Aroma is fruity and yeasty, not strong but still inviting. It pours a dark clear coppery brown with a decent pale tan head. Flavor has a strong fruity overtone, mainly apple with a hint of banana, as well as yeasty and malty components and a fair amount of fruity sweetness. Texture is fairly smooth and has a nice strong fizz, leaving behind a subtle tingle.

sampled at last summer’s Michigan Brewer’s Fest - Pours hazy orange with a lingering head. It has a fruity, yeasty aroma. The flavor is sweet with tasty fruit notes. It’s medium bodied with a lively palate. Good beer.

Lightly bitter with a nice belgin yeast profile , short finish , crisp clean mouthfeel , medium to full body , a very nice beer , from a brewery that I am quickly becoming a big fan of . NIce work .

A funky Belgian ale. Sour. Candied orange peel. Slightly bitter finish. A little watery, but definitely worth checking out.

This was received in a recent trade box from my great trading partner, Styrkzone. This poured brown with a medium sized brown head and medium lacing. Nose is ripe fruit and sweet malts; Medium in body with a nice creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is not really up to Trappist standards, but comes close. This is malt forward and the ripe dark fruit shows up nicely. This is a nice drinkable beer. I liked it.
