3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Great head, thick and very bubbly. Black body. Aroma is chocolate and roasty. Taste is coffee and sweet. Rather sweet for a RIS. Rather fair for a RIS, but quaff able. Thanks Josh for sharing.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle. Poured nearly inky black, but flaccid, with only a ring of dark tan head sticking around (a subsequent pour actually yielded a very respectable 1.5 finger head, and I bumped it up 0.1 for that). The aroma picked up sticky, moderately-roasted coffee and rolled oats with buttery vanilla around.. there was some nice character around, but it just smelled too sweet. The flavor kept the sweetness going, with black patent and coffee leading (low-moderate roast).. sweeter chocolates and vanilla again on the edges, and it was still a little buttery.. roasty bitterness almost cut through, but was held back by a wall of residual sugars.. this was actually tasty, but it wasnít all that well crafted. Medium-bodied and grainy on the palate.. the right amount of carbonation kept it moving well through the palate.. moderate bitterness.. this grew on me, but it was far from great.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
7/3/13. 12oz bottle thanks to breau. Black pour with a huge tan head that fizzes away fast. Some dark fruits, coffee, and chocolate in the aroma. Surprisingly light flavor with some coffee, chocolate, and dark fruits. Thin body and SUPER overcarbonated. Iím not sure if just overcarbed or a little infected. Not great either way.

4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 oz bottle.
It pours pretty much the qiuntessinial way for a RIs Thick, inky black body with a huge fomay tan head that sticks forever before receding to some nice thick-walled style lacing.
The smell is pretty good. It is roasty, it reminds me of a baltic porter in a way, or rather an imperial baltic porter. Not in the yeast but in the overall cocoa, raoastinees, and caramel levels.
The flavor is pretty good. Just what I am looking for in a RIS, not too much cloying sweetness, waves of roasted malt flavors. Think abyss without all the additives.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Backlogged rating: Tap, Pours a very deep brown with a oily appearance but not much head. The aroma is nice with chocolate, toffee, coffee, char, leather and some dark fruits. A touch of grassy hops as well. The taste does not match up to the nose, weak sweet malts with some fig and prunes. Very light hop profile and a bit of freezed dried coffee. The mouth feel is smooth but under carbonated. Meh, drinkable but more like a sweet stout than an Imperial.

Bottle. Pours black with a brown head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma is full of roasted malts with an underlying coffee note and on odd earthy note as well. Flavor is similar with lots of roasted malts, an odd sweet earthy note and some backing coffee

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rich, dense dark brown coloured body with a very thick rich brown head with 90% opacity for the body. Aroma of smoked peat, pit fruits, roasted malt, meat and mushrooms, oak and a touch of cherries and milk. Full-bodied; Rich, luscious malty body with a good set of caramel, milk, toffee and nuts - followed by a lot of roasted malt, some smoky notes and a lot of alcohol. Aftertaste shows some good complexity with the malt hitting hard at first then some good sweetness, then followed off by a lactic flavour. Overall, a nice imperial stout - from the ratings, I was getting worried ,but it looks like they changed the recipe or something - my bottle was nice and showed a lot of complexity and nice flavours throughout. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Sicilianoís in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 06-November-2010 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 11-June-2011.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, roasted malt, faint fruit, and a hint of coffee. It pours a dark brown with some red highlights along the edges of the glass. It has a small khaki head that lasts a minute or so before it fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with moderate dark chocolate. There is a faint fruitiness that starts in the middle and builds into the finish along with some roasted coffee, a hint of vanilla, and a touch of burnt notes. Medium-full bodied with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel.
