Kasteel Tripel aged in Cognac casks.

Thrill to that full, rounded taste, that delicate touch of cognac and the smooth, bitter aftertaste of this unique gourmet beer. Trignac is a real collector’s item. Only a limited edition of Trignac is brewed.

Very good. Nice nice tripel. But the aging is just a wee too much; would've benefitted from being blended. Quite sweet, and the cognac is just a tad overpowering. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an average frothy white head that mostly diminishes. Body is hazy yellow with sparkles. Aroma contains moderate malts (cookie, grain, molasses), moderate hops (citrus fruits), light yeasts (soap) and banana, grape, raisin, apple, pineapple, cask wood, vanilla and alcohol (cognac). Flavor starts off light acidic, then goes to sweet with later on light bitter added and finishes in light bitter. Body is medium with creamy texture and soft carbonation. Fruity and fresh with a warming finish with oak and cognac. It gets better when it warms. Very good, yet overpriced.

golden, hazy, off-white head (for so far it had an head). nose: vanilla, apples, banana, wood, alcohol all coming back in the taste too. Liqueurish taste (calvados instead of the armagnac ?). Might taste a bit synthetic. Sweet finish, still, some balance. Subtile, did like this one.

UPDATED: APR 26, 2013 Sampled from bottle @ tasting session at Bruin Cafe Oud Brabant, Oirschot. Hazy yellow orange color, small white head. Nice aroma of white wine, grapes, clearly barrel aged. Taste slightly sweet, alcohol, white wine, slight cognac influence. Medium body, a bit fizzy carbonation.

Corked bottle, 4558 of 9000. Pours a huge head. Raspberry, vanilla and hints of oak in the aroma. Malty sweetish, slightly alcoholic flavor with the slightest hints of cognac and vanilla. Hints of peach. Pleasant, but the effect of cognac barrel aging should be more noticeable.

Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. Faint cognac sweetness, some candy, apple, toast, and vanilla. An odd combination, but it kind of comes together. Pretty sure I was the only one at the tasting that actually enjoyed this.

Bottle at Blippsmas! Pours a very lightly hazed gold with a thin white head. Soft malt and musk on the nose, candy sugar. Warm and boozy right away, a bit of sweetness, musk, a good amount of warm esters. Warm and musky, chewy musk, warm musk. Warm and yeasty. Tasty.

Trignac XII. Bottle 8155/9000, 750 ml, corked and caged, at home. Into a tulip glass. ABV 12% Clear body, bright golden orange in colour. Big white head but very froathy, disappearing as fast as I put the bottle down. Non existing lacing of course. Saved only by its bright colour here. Very sweet aroma, grapes, alcohol, wine notes. Taste is also sweet, lots of grapes and sugar, wine notes again but now it starts to remind of cognac, faintly but it does. The alcohol very obvious, both as a warming feeling and as a burn on the tongue/mouth. The cognac flavour seems to get more notable as the beer warms up a bit in the glass. Medium thin body, too much carbonation. Overall good beer, tasty. Is it worth the premium price I paid for (better: that is sold everywhere for)? I guess not. But it makes for a good sipper and a beer to share with friends.

From a 75 cl bottle shared at Ryan’s. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Banana nose. Flavors of banana lacquer and caramel. Effervescent. Pleasant but not worth the $35 price tag.
