Dark but not over rich, strong yet very drinkable, this premium ale has a long dry finish with overtones of malt and walnuts.

5.2% ruby red colour with a thin head, roast malt aroma, the taste was not too good, maybe I had just had too many reasonable beers before this one.

9th April 2015: gravity pour at the Isle of Man CAMRA beer festival. Brown hue to the body colour, off-white head. Malty lead with hedgerow fruits second in both the aroma and taste. No walnuts in my brew but woody notes in the dry finish.

Cask, The Felix, Nuneaton, 28/01/14. Deep mahogany capped with vanilla. Nose walnut, slight butter, lactic softness, carob and coffee. Weak soap and twigs flavour; butter smears, walnut. Aniseed and burdock. Not bad but outshone by the other treasures on the table.
