4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Trust Tring to make a summer ale this good. Toasty syrupy golden colour. Aroma is like a labyrinth of hops. Strong, bitter, hoppy taste fading first to sweet butterscotch, then to a sharp twang. Full mouthfeel.

Cask at the Cambridge Blue, Cambridge on 4th June 2013. Amber with thin part-lacing foam. Malty aroma with fruits. Maltiness and berries in-mouth, with lemon citrus developing into a tangy, fruity finish. Slight note of saltiness. Light mouthfeel and body.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at the Row Barge, Guildford. Poured light amber with a minimal head and lacing that stuck to the glass forever! Not much of an aroma, but quite a bitter, refreshing taste, ideal for the summer. It tasted fine whether cold or when it eventually warmed. I can't see it winning too many awards but it was great to taste and I'd drink it again!

Cask (JDW, Uxbridge, pre-RBESG2011)
Crisp fruity light aroma. Refreshing body. Very bready. Gentle light hoppy finish. Excellent golden ale that didn’t need to resort to caricature in order to avoid mediocrity or even blandness.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pint at the Old Manor in Bracknell. Light amber with ok head. Nice aroma, a little floral. Good a British summer ale, but a little too dry, and a bit dandelion. There’s hops in there too and a hint of malt. Quite drinkable, but not a stirling tipple. Still, it was worth a taste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On cask at JDW, Stone. Every time I try a Tring ale I tend to like it and they’re usually light beers which as a rule I find monotonous. Well hopped golden ale, with butterscotch, caramel and low carbonation. Excellent for its style.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Hazy straw in colour with a dense cream head; pleasant lemony aroma - remiding me of a good shandy; light lemon citrus flavour with a grainy body that’s not too thin; then a refreshing finish with light leafy hops and some sweetness. Rather good on a warm summer’s afternoon.

On gravity at the Three Tuns Beer Festival, Bristol 2/07/10. Deep gold with a slight, white head. Some citrus and floral notes battered into submission by buttery malts. Not for me.
