Aroma is roasty, though not too roasty, with a touch of chocolate. Taste is similar though a touch to dry from the hops, though not much hop character. Nice drinkable ale though not really that complex.

Cask at the Elm Tree, Cambridge. Dark mahogany pour, with a thin broken bubbly tan head. Weak aroma, leading to a nice malty, slightly bitter flavour. Some smooth citrus notes on the palate. A very drinkable session ale. The English mild is back!

Handpull at The Edgar Wallace. Clear deep fire engine red with a small tan frothy head. Aroma and taste a light brown ale - some cola, green herbal bitterness, light nutshell bitterness. Very light body, not too sweet, weak carbonation with a quick nothing finish. Extremely light, but inoffensive and mercifully not all that sweet.

Hand pulled pint in The Crown Inn (Oakengates) on 29th March 2012. Lovely looking deep, dark ruby red tinge to the body: on top a rich, creamy, tan coloured head sat and stayed. The aroma was of mildly burnt malts with a hoppy undertone. The taste followed the nose but with extra flavours to savour: little chocolate and vanilla notes added to the roasted/toasted/burnt maltiness with again a hop presence that stopped the beer becoming too sweet or malty. Nice blend and a fine mild.

A very typical mild if darker than most. Head is off-white and palate typically thin. Lightly flavoured with a hint of caramel although no roastiness that I could discern. Hop rate is quite low and finish is short. A likeable lunchtime pint.

Sampled this mild in the Three Judges, Glasgow in December 2007. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear ruby black in colour with a thin buff head. Roasted grain evident in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts give a slight flavour of roasted coffee beans and dry bitter chocolate in the mouth. Dry hazelnuts and a hint of dusty resiny hops in the long aftertaste. Finish is dry with roasted grain notes in the palate. A decent enough session mild and well recommended..

Cask - The White Lion, Norwich. Doming, mostly lasting bubbly-creamy beige head, ok lace, dark ruby body. Milky chocolate, fruit, roast and tobacco aromas. Sweet choccy, lightly roasted malt flavour profile with a creamy almost lactic edge and some delicate fruitiness. Lightish body, soft mouthfeel, a bit lacking in the mid palate, though a tanginess develops there gradually, finishing with a short bittersweetness. Would make for a good lunchtime half as mild is the right term for it.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as a lighter note of roasted malt, leading to a dry finish.

Bottle of cask from brewery. Pours copper brown, with quickly diminishing head. Lovely fruity, smoky beer aroma. Taste is sweet malt, flat carbonation, vanilla, nuttiness and toffee. Not a huge fan of mild, but this is a pretty good one.
