Cask conditioned at The Horse & Groom, Caulcott, Oxon. Amber with white head. Nicely balanced session type bitter, biscuity dry malt with a bittersweet hop, grassy, fresh and juicy. Very nice and tasty.

May 31, 2008 Cask at the Trafalgar with Mes, 25th April 2008. An absolutely great hoppy bitter served in great condition. Perfectly balanced and boasting a great long bitter finish. Simple but oh so effective.

May 4, 2008 A Mes rate: Gravicask at the Trafalgar.
Bright copper / amber with a good white head and very good condition. Lovely aroma of creamy malt and bitter hops with some slight tobacco. Hops are much more up front in the flavour giving it a good grassy bitterness. Pleasant earthy malt. Excellent bitter finish. A good solid bitter.

Nov 23, 2007 Aug, 2007 Saracens Head, Kings Langley. Warm, full bodied honey and toffee. Cold coffee. Well soaked English hops, dark and serious, with a hint of tobacco. Very bold for a 4% - but just a little old fashioned for my taste.

Oct 23, 2007 Cask at Bedford Arms Speciality Beer House, Bedford. Copper gold with a small white head. Faint aroma at first, which developed notes of sweet fruit and candy. Unusual pleasant taste of leafy hoppiness and biscuity malt. Pretty sound bitter.

Feb 4, 2007 Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel Northampton. A dark copper coloured beer with off white head and some lacing. The aroma and taste are very English with perhaps more malt than hop. There are fruity notes and an easy drinking style to it. Another decent cask session bitter.

Dec 17, 2006 Cask (stillage) at Oakdale Arms Beer Festival, April 2006. Attractive pale copper colour. Mainly dry malt in the aroma. Some dusty hops and more light malt in the flavour. More nutty character than you’d expect from an ordinary bitter. Not a particularly ambitious beer but decent enough. It would certainly be no hardship to knock back a few of these in a session.

Jun 29, 2006 A dark amber brown beer with a thick white head. Very light sweet malty nose, with just a hint of hop. The taste is bittersweet, toasted malt, slightly cloying, helped by a drying hop flavour in the finish. (Cask - The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk).
