Cask (Hop & Grain Store, Cambridge)
Black, and with a persistent small tan head. Lovely sweet chocolatey roast aroma. Beautifully rich estery retronasals. Big soft smooth palate - comforts you like a cozy blanket. Taste is beautifully roasted, a touch of chocolate. Roastiness builds up over time, and ends with quite a dry burntness once youíre at the bottom of the glass - but with no astringency at all. Absolutely top stout. Beautiful. Tring deliver yet again.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at the Maypole, Cambridge. Dark brown with a big creamy tan head. Thatís how itís done. Roast coffee, elderberries, brambles in the scent. Simple but balanced bittersweet taste. The mouthfeel is unfortunately incredibly weak, which spoils the whole package that little bit. Very very good of course, but not among the best of beers from this underrated brewery.
