2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
[ Keg ][ 6oz ][ @Devilís Den ][ $5 ][ Tulip ][ 05.30.15 ]
Darker-than-cola pour, tepid with no head. Ashy nose is lightly sweet, metallic with soft oat/chocolate sweetness. Front palate is thin, oxidized oat before sticky and sugary grape/plum mid palate, juicy but sticky, burnt sugars and oat through the moderate-bodied sticky end, acids too high amidst sweetness, all of drawing similarities to soda. Nothing too offensive, booze in control.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at Bobís Bar for CCBW. Pours a somewhat opaque brown-black color with a thin light beige head that recedes quickly to a sparse outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Dark fruit, chocolate and herbs. Medium body with flavors of balsamic vinegar, funky fruit, malt and chocolate. The finish is sour fruits and malt. Decent overall.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
18 May 2015, bottle. slightly lighter than coke and looks like it with bubbles on the side of the glass. nose is hard to place. it is certainly slightly tart and funky, maybe hints of raisin and i donít think i would have placed mustard but power of suggestion makes me think i can find a bit. thin body and moderately fizzy. tart, funky, a tad oaky. i still canít distinguish the mustard, honey, or raisin. nice

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours brown with little head. Aroma is slightly tart, and lots of raisins. Taste is very tart and vinegary, and a overly sweet raisin taste that lingers for a minute. Good, but wouldnít buy again

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour on tap at Avery Sourfest 2013, dark brownish purple pour with off white head, aroma brought strange notes of bread, roast, some vinegar, touch of caramel, slight dark fruit into a bit of lacto, red fruit, some honey. Taste was a mix of tart lemon, berry, vinegar into a bit of dark cherry, dark fruit into some caramel, finishing slightly tart.

1.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Murky, muddy and with no head. The nose is vinegary, like some of the bad Flemish Browns Iíve tried. There is a little underlying roast in there. At some point during this process did no one once say "wait, are we... Are we totally sure about this?" This beer is so vinegary and I get no barrel at all. Itís just not good. Itís a Dijon beer. Iím not sure I want to be a gangsta.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12.7 ounce wax capped bottle. Served in a chalice, the beer pours dark brown with about a half inch tan head that fizzled away quickly. Pretty much no lacing at all. Aroma is tart, the brew smells like vinegar, tart berries, lemon peel, and some chocolate and roasted malt. It tastes like vinegar, tart cherries, lemon, mustard, chocolate, oak and some red wine. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís slick with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew, and the mustard seed made it really interesting. But for the most part itís a good sour ale, as the tartness stood out in this brew. Iíd like to try this one again. $8.99 a bottle.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by a friend. Dark brown in color with a thin tan head. Aroma is sour, peppery, roasty and lemony. Malty flavor giving way to sourness and peppery yeast before a sour finish.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Let this one warm. I started with it at velar temp and from there as it warmed some more flavors really came through. Very good sour. Smoky roasted malt aroma with lactic sour (smoky is mild and reading the label maybe it is the mustard seed). Get a bit of the sweetness from raisins in the aroma as it warms, some in the taste. Taste is very pucker sour. Very lactic sour and maybe 8 of 10 sour. Behind the lactic sour is some roasted malt, but the sour really dominates this one. Maybe get some almost meaty smokeyness as well but again predominantly pucker sour. I like it. But not as balanced of a sour as some others and has some odd other flavors. Still good if you like sours, but a step below trinity old growth Flemish brown as trinity sours go. But a very good sour with tons of lactic sourness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
