COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Itís officially summer and that means cucumbers are just starting to come into harvest. Cool cukes are such a nice cooling summer treat, and we decided to make a summer Saison with them. Adding ~24lbs of English cucumbers per barrel, and just enough lemon zest to lend an overall brightness to the beer, this recipe is certain to become an epic summer time favorite.

Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with very thick white head. Aroma very cucumber, lemons, very garden-like, earthy. Taste is very carbonated, cucumber, pepper, spicy. Good.

Goblet on tap at Colorado Plus. Pours light gold with not much head. Aroma is a little tart with lots of cucumber coming through. Pretty simple and straightforward beer. The flavor is refreshing with real cucumber and a moderate tartness for balance. Some earthy hops are in the finish. Hard to pick out much else. Good summer beer and pleasant to drink.

Draft @ Trinity. Pours hazy light hay. Fluffy white head that falls fast. Aroma is funk, light tartness, and loads of fresh, great cucumbers. Taste is tart, spicy, bread, and again lots of cukes. Very light and refreshing. The vegetable really balances with the tart bite. Great warm weather beer.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilburís Fort Collins for $12.99. Iíve been kind of intrigued about this since it medaled at GABF and finally pulled the trigger on a bottle with a gift certificate I got for Christmas. Slight gusher. Pours a hazy yellow appearance with a lasting, foamy off white head. Definitely a lot of cucumber in the nose along with some melon and herbal/weedy/greeny notes. High carbonation. Twangy, slightly funky, very green/weedy (kind of like a dandelion stem or green herbs), lemon, melon, pickle/cucumber flavor with a slightly acidic flavor. At first not entirely hard to drink, but quickly it becomes kind of annoying and not enjoyable. A novel idea and decent at first, but not something that is worth purchasing a 750mL bottle unless itís being split into multiple glasses at a tasting. Iíd imagine there wouldnít be many repeat purchasers even if itís not bad in small servings.

Hazy yellow pour with a white head. The aroma is very heavy on the cucumber. The flavor is similar with a lot of cucumber, biscuit and wheat notes. Very refreshing. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pours a hazy, copper/orange color. Head was one finger and white. Bubbles from carbonation lasted through out. Head retention and lacing were disappointing, fading way too fast. Smell is of fresh cucumber and a cucumber flavored mexican candy that I love. The beer also has the aromas of a classic saison, straw malts/peppery farmhouse yeast. Hops arenít present and neither is alcohol. Taste is of pickled sweet cucumber, Belgium peppery yeast, and light crisp pale malts. Sweetness and light spice dominate flavors, hops are undetectable. At 6.5% abv, alcohol was nicely hidden, making this beer highly drinkable Mouthfeel is light on the palate and effervescent, . Body is that of a lager or kolsch. Yeast leaves an astringent aftertaste. Wish head retention was there longer to add more depth to the beer. Overall this was a very unique, exceptionally flavorful ale. Great for a hot summer day out on the patio. Head retention was only drawback to the beer. Also at 15 bucks per bomber, it is on the pricier side. That being said I would gladly fork over that much again and hoping that Trinity will make this one a permanent seasonal.

Clear gold with almost no head. Nose smells like cucumber on artisanal white bread with a touch of lemon zest and a wee bit of pepper. Flavor starts with a big cucumber note followed by a sweet blonde malt pilsner tone, with some light lemony yeasty biscuitiness on the finish. Even the cucumber lasts through to the finish. Kinda refreshing and tasty.
