COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with brown sugar, garam masala, torch roasted Vennetucci Farm sugar pumpkin, white sage, coriander, and grains of paradise. This version of our seasonally rotating Saison tastes like liquid pumpkin pie …. If you were in Belgium that is! 10.5% ABV.

Bottle courtesy of Andy at his place. Pours a murky brown body with light off white lacing. Aroma is spice, oak, maybe some pumpkin and very faint funk. Mouthfeel is medium, not bad - but I don’t pick up on all the specific flavors/ingredients advertised. Lots of spice, sweet malt, maybe some vague fruit notes, oak, and a touch of pumpkin.

Bottle. Pours amber with a beige head. Light sweetness, a hint of funk, light spice rack notes, and toasted bread. Odd, but drinkable and enjoyable.

Bottle at a tasting at Andy’s. Pours a hazed amber brown with a thin white head. Softly spicy pumpkin and spices. Spicy, malt and toasty spices. Nice little musk component. Musky, a touch warm on the finish. Tasty enough.

Shared at tasting with RB crew. Bottle listed as Emma’s Pumpkin Saison Ale. Pours brown with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of yeast, pumpkin and spices. There’s definite pumpkin and spice in the taste: cloves, coriander, grains of paradise, black pepper. Overall, an interesting beer.

Pours a cloudy amber color with a white head. Nice pumpkin pie spices, bread, toffee sweetness, and some yeast. A light pepper spice note, ginger, mild herbal quality, and some pumpkin. The flavor is quite sweet. Lots of bread, brown sugar, and toffee which are somewhat balanced by the spice notes. A little bit yeasty on the finish.

***2012 Vintage*** Thanks to mklever42 from BA for this beer that shares the same name as my 1st daughter! Poured from a 750ml. bottle, bottle #929. Appearance: Pours a dark brown with about 2 fingers worth of head that are unfortunately very brief with no much lacing left behind. Smell: Pumpkin seeds with some of the flesh, fresh spices, herbs. Quite powerful and nice. Taste: Bit of mint, fresh herbs, hints of brown sugar, some coriander. Pumpkin is discreet but comes out as it nears room temp. A flavorful finish. Mouthfeel: Very low carbonation takes a little getting used to. Creamy and the body overcomes a bit the almost lack of carbonation. Overall: Feels delicate and subdued, doesn’t smack you in the face. The Saison feel is much more prominent than the pumpkin aspect. Different and enjoyable.

Note: I had Emma’s Pumpkin Saison (9.5% abv), not Emma’s Coffin Pumpkin Saison. Emma’s Pumpkin Saison: Poured into snifter, opaque brown with 2 fingers tan head with good retention and beautiful lacing, a very appealing beer. Aromas of yeast, some funk, fruit, underlying spice, hints of alcohol. The flavor is spicy, and earthy up front but finishes with roasted pumpkin tones that linger. Hints of coriander. Moderate carbonation and body, sweet and slightly oily mouthfeel. Develops a nice smooth texture as it warms up a bit overall an interesting beer. The pumpkin tones go really well with the earthiness of the saison. Very solid overall, you can hardly taste the alcohol. An interesting and enjoyable seasonal.

Draught at Freshcraft. Pumpkin spice throughout countered by maybe some yeasty saison and not much else. Odd overall.

On draught at Freshcraft during the Cigar City Reception. Dark brown pour with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of pumpkin spices and caramel malt. Full-bodied with flavors of ginger, pumpkin, caramel, earthy malt and yeast. The finish is sweet with a toasted pumpkin aftertaste. Above average overall.
