Tap. Pours hazy orange/gold with thin, fizzy white head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is bread and biscuit malt, pumpkin, fresh grassy hops, honey, and light orange peel. Flavor is fresh oranges, herbs, sweet malts, light grassy hops, and honey; dry lightly sweet finish. Light/medium body and low carbonation.

Tap at the brewpub. I question how they decided this was the 15th rated saison in 2009, considering those ratings kind of suck. The beer isn’t great, honestly. Tastes like a typical failed brewpub saison: underattenuated, malty, nutty, mild esters. Some honey, grain. Dull.

Tap at Trinity - hazy gold with a fluffy white head - a very earthy, tangy saison, with a yeasty character not unlike a hefe - medium dry, peppery, with a hint of pear character - just the slightest bit of funkiness to it - the squash compounds the earthiness, but thankfully does not add a vegetal character - dry, dusty finish - quite good.

Growler. Creamy white head atop really hazy yellow - nice looking beer. Nose is hefe-like esters and a punchy yeast and hay. Flavor starts as the nose, with the clove and yeastiness forefront. Pumpkin/squash is evident in the middle, and, as advertised, gives the beer a creamy appearance. Finish is lots of white pepper, hints of spicy herbs. Nice, clean, easy drinker.

Had at the All Colorado Beer Festival in Colorado Springs on 11/7/09. Color is a hazy yellow gold with good carbonation and a nice white head. Aroma of orange and spice. Starting with a lighter medium body it goes down with a creamy mouth feel. Finish is Hefe like with flavors of orange, coriander, clove and white pepper. This is one of the best Saisons I have had in a while.

Draught. Pours hazy yellow with a small, rocky white head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (hay, straw, cereal, meal), average hop (herbs, grass), heavy yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, earth) with notes of clove, apple, pear, and pepper. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
