3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 markwise (3803) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 8, 2013
Thanks to the kind soul who brought this to the Thursday pre-Hunaupu tasting. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is grain with yeast, funk, brett pineapple, brett barnyard, pumpkin seeds, earthy spices, and some mild floral notes. Flavor is huuuuuuge brett- brett pineapple, brett funk, brett barnyard, and some spice, yeast, and sweet malt. Medium in body and very interesting for the style. This one is fourth dimensional when it comes to depth.

Cloudy pale yellow pour with a white head. Really nice lemon aroma. Quite tart with some pepper spiciness, nice floral qualities, grass, and some sweet bread. Nice funky flavor to this. The lavender is pretty well pronounced, lots of tart lemon, mild malt flavor, and some grass. Good peppery spice, some orange peel, and a dry finish.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 JAXSON (480) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Pours light peach from a bottle with a small soapy head. Nose is really brett forward, kind of wet pavement, chewy vitamins, and light sulfur. Mouth is oddly integrated despite a weird, sort of unpleasant collage of flavors. Lots of those chewy Flintstone vitamin things, sulfur powder, metal, wet stone. However, fairly tight, at least these unpleasant flavors are refined. Feel is good, sharp and fizzy upfront and soft and washing throughout. Overall I don’t like it very much.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Steve_0 (1255) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 22, 2013
Bottle at home. Pour is hazy golden-color with a big, fluffy white head and decent lacing. Huge lavender, coriander, light spice, tropical fruits, mango, pineapple, brett, biscuit, grass, straw, a touch of lacto, and vanilla in the aroma. Taste is tangy, spritzy, huge lavendar, citrusy, lemon peel, light biscuit, straw, grass, and big flowers with a lightly spicy finish. Medium mouthfeel with high carbonation. Really nice floral saison with a huge lavendar and vanilla presence. I could see how this one may offend people, but I kind-of dig it and it’s great to see a brewer making a sessionable saison.

bottle - fantastic beer. Barnyard, funky yeast balanced against a nice gingery, cardomom spice with light sweet malts and a tangy acidity. Well balanced and easy drinking, but complex enough to be consistently interesting.
4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jredmond (4006) - Manhattan, New York, USA - JAN 30, 2013
Bottle courtesy of Andy/Puzzl. Pours a deep hazy orange body with thin white lacing. Aroma is fresh, funky Brett, beautifully complex floral notes and light spice. Mouthfeel is fluffy, nearly perfect with notes of Brett, flowers and sweet funky fluffy fruit. Awesome saison.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 PhillyCraft (1964) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 30, 2013

Bottle from the brewery. Kind of all over the place--not unexpected with an ingredient list like this--but it actually works. Gingerbread and pineapple tart and matcha; flowers and true cinnamon in the back. Flavor is a touch sloppy, but mostly dry, with the brett helping move things along. Fun stuff.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jcnielsen (840) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - JAN 12, 2013
Bottle. Big thanks to adnielsen for sharing the bottle. Pours a hazy orange color with white head. Yeasty, very spicy, heather aromas. Heather, yeasty, spicy, farmhouse flavors.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Brouwerij (407) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 2, 2013
Bottle #913. Pours a hazy orange-straw with a finger white head. Settles in minutes, minimal to no lacing. Aroma is lavender, herbal, slight vegetal, hints of spice, sour/lactic tones. Flavor is mildly tart up front, fading immediately into pumpkin and citrus tones. Finishes herbal and spicy with a mild bitter/lactic that lingers. All sorts of flavors going on without being muddled. Carbonation is soft to moderate, with a medium body and smooth texture. Finish almost becomes creamy as it warms. This beer is interesting, unique, refreshing, and very tasty. A bit pricey, but I was glad I tried it.
