On draft at The Mooring in Newport, Rhode Island. Hoppy and somewhat fragrant, though citrus notes missing. Excellent local craft IPA to enjoy with lobster on a beautiful sunny day in Newport.

On tap at the brewery. Clear orangish/yellow pour with a white head. Light citrus hop bouquet. The taste follows suit. Nice balance with a sturdy malt backbone. Good body and mouthfeel.

Sampled at the brewery. Golden with some browner hues. A small layer of foam. I taste tropical fruit first and then caramel. Bitter citrus after that. Almost classic west coast with tropical and citrus fruit flavors. Some tangerine is noted later. That fruit makes this a fine beer.

Pours a slightly hazy honey golden with a decent pale buff head. Aroma is not strong, but hoppy enough to get your attention. Flavor is boldly hoppy, more woody than resiny, somewhat bitter, with citrus and malty hints. Smooth, firm texture is fairly lively. A respectable IPA from R.I.

A: Hazy Golden Straw/Amber Hue, Passes Some Light, White Head Ring, Decent Lacing S: Malty, Mild Piney T: Crackers, Bread, Piney M: Average Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Dry, Bitter Overall, an average IPA, somewhat weak nose and the taste starts malty and the hops creep up on you in the back end. Drinkable but not mind blowing.

Solid flagship. Nice hop and alcohol edge. Well crafted but lacking when stood up against dogfish and the other biggies.

A: Very light floral and citrus notes, this beer does not offer much in in the aroma department. A: Hazy gold with a frothy finger-width head. T: Strong resinous notes, medium bitterness, light grapefruit and hint of lemon. The taste is definitely surprising given the lack of this beerís aroma. P: Medium body, sticky texture with lively carbonation. Finish is long and quite bitter. Overall: This would be a good IPA for someone who is unaccustomed to the style (my girlfriend avoids hoppy beers like vampires avoid the sun but I got her to try this one... she tolerated it). I enjoyed it but I prefer much stronger, fuller-bodied double IPAs like SNís Hoptimum. I ate rosemary sourdough with humboldt fog cheese while drinking this beer and I realize that these flavors are not compatible with this style. Iíll give it another chance in the near future with a lighter summery meal.
