waolsen (919), Littleton, Colorado, USA Jul 13, 2008 tap. black with thin tan head. creamy sourness. bitter coffee. pour balance. not very enjoyable. Drink4Satan (447), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Jun 21, 2008 Each time I had visited the brewpub, I have been disapointed with this brew. There is far to little emphasis on dark, roasty flavours and it is not nearly complex or rich enough to stand up to the many great, available impy stouts out there. The stadard coffee/chocolate complex is there, but it just isn’t nealy intense enough. The mouthfeel is a tad thin, but its creamy texture completely compensates for that. In addition to its display of bitter hops, it has a metallic tang in the finish that reminds me of old pennies (not that I have recently been sucking on old pennies). As far as how it is ranked in style, I could’t agree more. RomanW70 (280), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Mar 9, 2008 Nice beer. Pours black with a thinck tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Pretty big bitter finish with chocolate notes. kevd193213 (293), Coventry, Rhode Island, USA Jan 12, 2008 Draught. Dark brown, almost black pour with tiny brown head. Aroma of coffee and malt. Taste of chocolate, coffee with a nice bitter finish. Cryotek (205), Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA Dec 31, 2007 Updated: Jan 2, 2008Tap- Light roasted chocolate, creamy faint expresso - both in aroma and taste. Roasted bitter malt taste, ground coffee after taste. Dry roasty hop also noted. Not bad, doesn’t belong with the elite, but probably one of the 2 best beers in RI. ( Newport Storm Annual the other)
