muddyfeet (72), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jul 19, 2007 Cask. Vastly superior beer pumped out of the cask. Hops were much more present and gave a subtle undertone of evergreen. Balanced outt he malts and masked the alcohol. Nose was also much thicker and wetter (if wetter makes any sense but it did when I reviewed it into my notebook). More of a creamy, thick mouthfeel. Tough to leave after one pint. joeec5 (203), bayonne, New Jersey, USA Nov 28, 2004 Best beer sampled here. copper color. malty. citrusy. Pepper? slight roasted malt flavor as well. good beer. Volgon (2458), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Feb 9, 2004 Clear dark orange color, sweet aroma with hints of caramel malts, fizzy and thin. Ends quickly. ericnixon (711), Lenox, Massachusetts, USA Dec 17, 2003 I was really taken by the gigantic neverending head on this one. wicked mega sweet with slight maltiness. muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Mar 9, 2003 On cask. Opaque medium-to-dark maple color, big thick lasting bubbly head. Aroma of butterscotch, pine bark, loamy soil. Extremely sweet, no hops to speak of, butterscotch with hints of cherry, vanilla and (faintly) whiskey. Pillowy soft hot-chocolate-with-melted-marshmallow mouthfeel. Alcohol invisible until it warms quite a bit. Awesome, just a notch below the Imperial Stout. This is a brewpub worth going out of your way for.
