At Avery Strong Ale Fest 2013--clear black with a quickly receding head. Smells slightly boozy and kinda oaked, with a dark and roasty Schwarzbier undertone on the nose. Flavor starts kinda biscuity and boring, quickly turns chocolaty sweet with some whiskey oak tones and a little biscuit again.

Tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2013. Pours a deep brown appearance with a somewhat thin dark brown head. Mild whiskey, chocolate, somewhat woody, toffee, caramel aroma. Flavor is full of chocolate truffles, rich toffee, and very mild whiskey. The whiskey is tamed down well and very nicely complements the beer.
