Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 20, 2009 Pours out the standard orange / amber clour. Ha! I’m getting an endless supply of bubbles out of my Karmeliet goblet that only helps feed the colossal off white crown that was produced on the pour. The lacing is average but this is kind of misleading as half my glass has been filled with beer foam...even a light swirl starts the bubble factory up. The aroma is of sweet orange, nice floral hops (my brain tells me it has noticed the faint aroma of roses), a low ammount of spice from the yeat and some alcohol heat that slightly burns the nostrils. The taste is caramelly, orange, lightly spiced yeast with the alcohol not quite hidden in the background. It did come across more mild that I expected. The mouthfeel was smooth and a bit dry with a solid deep alcohol burn but lacks a defined finish.
Looks like a re-review is in order. dmac (1421), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Jun 19, 2009 Green, WTF?, 750 ml bottlefrom Spirits RB. Aroma had way too much skunk going on from being in a God Damn green bottle. Also noted were lots of earthy grassy notes, some lemon pepper and solvent.....pretty much heading towards the yuck category. A huge fluffy bright white head sits atop a brownish/gold crystal clear body with sporadic carbonation. Medium bodied, medium to strong carbonation and a slightly dry finsih, not bad there. Flavor of grassy earth notes, citrus, light dry candi sugar, fruit. I honestly believe that the green bottle dragge this rating down by one whole point, I mean geen bottle...WTF is this the the stone age or are you a closet Heineken lover? syton98 (40), USA Jun 18, 2009 Wow, whata great tripel. Pours a perfects golden with a nice big head that stays around for a while. Amorma is spicy with hints of yeast and fruirt (banana and some lemon). Taste is great and well rounded and balanced. The grain is mixed well and allow the beer to be smooth yet robust. A very nice beer. Highly recommended beelsebob (17), Antwerpen, Belgium Jun 17, 2009 This beer is all but perfect. It’s got a lovely colour, it holds a lovely small head well. Its taste is well rounded, with a nice amount of spicyness. Definately recommended. Berley31 (107), New Brunswick, Canada Jun 14, 2009 Bottle. Poured with a fairly large, white head. Dark yellow, hazy body with very good lacing. Very nice aroma - average yeast, with hints of various fruits (definitely some banana in there). On the palate, the body feels medium-full, with a thin-yet-slick texture and lively carbonation and a nice, even finish. Great flavor, lightly acidic and bitter, but with the fruit and yeast present as well, and a good duration after you’ve finished sipping it. A great tripel that will always remind me of Belgium (it was the first beer I tried there)... very glad it’s available in North America. zapprentice (309), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 11, 2009 Tap at Sunset. Really enjoyed the rich fruity and spicy notes in the aroma. Taste did not keep these notes up though and kind of died on me. Ok though overall. altehkiller (71), , California, USA Jun 10, 2009 amazing trippel! this is the best i have had. this is so tasty and smooth! the houblon dobbelen ipa is too funky to really enjoy so this takes the top spot for me. really exemplifies what a trippel should be! drjay44 (758), Salida, Colorado, USA Jun 9, 2009 33 cl. bottle. Pours a thick, rapidly shrinking white head, over a slightly cloudy, yellow (SRM 5-10) body....nose of spice (coriander, allspice, slight clove), fruits (lemon, banana), bubblegum.....taste initially slightly sweet gradually evolving through the spice flavors mentioned ending in medium bitterness.....mouth feel is medium. the overall spice is present, more sweetness than some, carbonation is higher than I like. That complaint registered, I like it.
