330ml bottle - $3.99 at Total Wine & More in Alpharetta, Georgia

Appearance: Pours a hazed, dulled golden body with a very tall, meringue-like, white head.

Smell: Lightly tangy, faintly grainy malts with a coating of ground spices and a spritz of potent spirits trailed by notes of blendered fruits and zestful herbs.

Taste: Starts sweet, quite sweet, actually, with a taste of sugary honey candies. Tangy wheatiness, then a variety of flavors cross the tongue, including: ’nanas, green apples, lemon juice, orange marmalade, chopped coriander, and a light pinch of white pepper. Restrained floral character midway. Slight, subtle bitterness. Some heat from the alcohol as you arrive at the drying, fruit finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-high carbonation, lively and a bit fizzy at times.

Overall: A very solid, well-made representation of the tripel style.

Appearance: pale straw gold, active white soapy head, strong carbonation jets, soft lace curtains. Aroma: fresh cracked pepper, grass and hay; smells almost pilsnery. Taste: notes of bubblegum, green apple, peppercorn, coriander, lemon sorbet. Finish: tart, a little spicy, with lingering citrus; almost like lemon meringue pie with sea salt sprinkled over it. Notes: Wow. I almost didn’t buy this because the clear green bottle made me worried about a skunked beer. I hadn’t heard of this, so I had my doubts, but I’m really glad I grabbed it. Smelled like a hoppy pilsner, tasted like a traditional tripel, only spicier. Palate is lively, but creamy. This may be my favorite tripel ever. Magnificent.

Flavor is fantastic, with hops present but not terribly noticeable. Very smooth drinking, a new personal favorite. Didn’t notice the high alcohol content at all, nothing to interrupt the smoothness. Had on tap, with very large tap.

Aroma is hoppy and I was worried it would be too bitter. But the flavor was great. Pretty sweet with proper fruity and malty notes and just the right amount of hoppiness. I know I’m not breaking any news here, but it’s outstanding.

11.2 oz bottle. 8.4 % ABV. Pours a hazy yellow-orange with a medium white head that collapses into a blanket. Leaves a little lace. Spicy nose--peppery, banana too--but it’s all a little muted. Taste is sweet and meaty and a bit dry; somewhat tart in the finish. Carbonation is medium and the mouthfeel is creamy. Fantastic.
