sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Apr 9, 2009 Tasted 4/1/09. 750ml bottle. The first pour was relatively clear with a golden hue. Layer of white head. Aromas of apples, melons and citrus. Belgian candy sugar yeast and pepper. Medium to full bodied with bright effervescence and big citrus notes. Candy, chalky and perfumy. This is how a tripel should taste! Peppery with a faint cherry nuance. The second glass was activared and produced a slightly hazy hue. Spicy chalky finish with just a kiss of hops. Mild bready malt character. This is the style personified! TaxiDriver (910), Stadland, Germany Apr 9, 2009 Bottle. The aroma started sweet, but then it gets dominated by some sour aromas which are well hidden in the background. Also some light aroma of apples. The head is normal large, white and creamy, the duration is long. The body is clear and orange. The taste is very nice, started light sour and spicy, later on it gets sweeter, the finish is also sweet. The body is creamy, light to medium with a lively carbonation. A really nice beer! pj1855 (154), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Apr 5, 2009 Pours a lighltly hazy golzen yellow with a average white head. Malty sweet aroma. Hint of alcohol. Taste is heavy on the spice. Little bit of citrus. Good flavored beer. Fizzy carbnonation. Kind of like champagne. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA Apr 5, 2009 Great Tripel. Nice fruity aroma of berry and yeast. Flavor is slightly acidic, with notes of berry and citrus to provide a great balance. Also some subtle hints of hops. Quite carbonated in the mouthfeel. teamrassas (26), USA Apr 5, 2009 Tulip glass on tap at Ground Control in Goodyear AZ. Nice 2-3 finger head. Cloudly yellow hue. Solid yeasty belgian aroma. Tastes super smooth slight-medium sweetness with a nice like clove spice kick. ben4321 (960), Rockville, Maryland, USA Apr 2, 2009 Location: 750 from Gilly’s, Feb 09
Overall Impression:
Really nice, drinkable beer. Fruity and sweet, but not overly so, definitely enjoyed this one, As far as flavors go, its not the most complex Tripel out there, but definately enjoyable. bearlybrewed (33), Colorado, USA Apr 1, 2009 Updated: Apr 27, 2009Golden light yellow with large white head. Absolutely wonderful nose of coriander, bready malts, lemon notes, flowers, hops and more. Light thin body, rich with flavors of coriander and orange/lemon peel. Was very citrusy and loved the spice finish. Bready malts and citric flavors are prevalent. Wonderful brew. spatocks (1), , New Jersey, USA does not count Mar 31, 2009 Had on tap at Delirium cafe in Brussels, Belgium. Drinken from Karmeliet glass whose tulip shape seemed to hold on to the head for longer than expected and result in moderate to heavy lacing.
Beer had a beautiful golden brown color and gave up hints of wheat and barley. Upon tasting, the most noticeable characteristic is the sweetness, which is quite strong for a tripel, but pleasant nonetheless. The beer tastes of light honey, minor nut, and some vanilla.
The beer lingers for quite some time and leaves a sweet coating on the tongue and light floral or clove tastes in the back of the throat.
An overall very good beer, probably best drinken on the colder side to prevent unintended similarities with weaker meads.
