COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

This was fantastic. Pale, hazy pour with minor sediment. Creamy, foamy head with nice lacing. Incredibly complex aromas and flavours of yeasts, fresh baked breads, spices, herbs, lemon and orange, and some wheat/grains. Nice warming effect.

14.6.2014. Very pale, a bit hazy. Aroma has strong citrus, belgian yeast and white pepper. Flavour has peppery citrus sweetness with some refreshness, banana. Carbonation is somehow sharp but taste is still soft. Feels kind of mixture of wheat beer and trippel, though really good one indeed. Simply great. Simple yet complex.

Straw coloured. Towering, frothy white head, good retention with some lacing. Effervescent. Aroma of yeast, cloves, lemon, wheat and perfume. Light sweetness and similar bitterness. Light to medium bodied, effervescent and creamy. Pleasant alcohol warmth. An interesting drop in terms of aroma and taste but the mouthfeel of this one is superb and the more I drink, the more I enjoy it.

Excelente cerva.

Heerlijk bier.

A lovely golden colour with a thick foamy head which stays. Some lemon zest and grassy notes but also some slight fruitiness and sweetness, it is quite complex but really nice with it. This is up there with the very best tripels, highly recommended.

Bottle shared at Stuffed Sandwich - thanks Chino! Golden clear pour with a big white fluffy head. Light Belgian spices, slightly sweet finish. Complex and nice.

Pours clear gold with a very full and frothy head. Floral taste, some grass and hops. Fruits and a slight sweetness to the taste, not very bitter. A very smooth medium body. A very pleasing beer, to be honest. Maybe a bit too sweet/flowery for my tastes, but still a great beer!

Great golden clear beer. It is really foamy. The thick layer of fluffy foam stays on the beer, it doesn’t disappear. The beer is sparkling. The taste is great. It has a strong citrusy flavor. You can taste lemon and orange zest. However, you must be in the mood for such a complicated taste like the one of this beer. But if you are in the mood and you can appreciate adult beers, this beer is perfect.
