UPDATED: FEB 9, 2012 (33cl bottle from Ma Poule @ Torvehallerne) Pours a richly carbonated, clear golden with frothy, white head. Good lace and retention. Aroma is pleasantly complex - malty with green, fruity notes and other hints of yeast. No detectable hop in the aroma. Oily texture, full body, almost sparkling with an astringent and alcohol smooth finish. Complex taste with tart as well as caramel impressions, notes of apple and only a little bitterness on the closing end. I didn’t really find a tripel I appreciated before this one, which is very pleasant and definitely merits further study.

Pours a cloudy and light golden color with about a finger of white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is subtle banana and clove esters typical of belgian yeast. Taste is very fruity and refreshing with some slight malty notes. little bit of warmth to this beer as well even though there is no distinct alcohol flavor

Clear draft white head. Off skunky aroma and taste. Grassy and astringent, bitter. No hop, no malt. I might have gotten a bad pour looking at some of these other ratings, I’ll try it again and re-rate this, but overall, wasn’t a very pleasent tasting expirence.

Densa e bem alcoolica, sabor adocicado, lupulado e ácido, muito bem equilibrado. Uma cerveja muito diferente das outras mais comuns.

Pours light golden with a high head. Aroma vegetables, belgian hops. Smooth medium body, high carbonation. One of the classic belgian beers. Not Bad.

03.02.2012. 0,33l Bottle. 8,4% abv. vinmonopolet.no. Hazy and unclear yellow colour with white head. Very lively carbinated. Sour aroma. Notes of sour or wild yeast. Wheaty flavours. Medium body with strong notes of alcohol. Very refreshing beer with very good flavours of aromatic floral hops.

750 ml bottle into chalice, best by 3/29/2011. Pours slightly hazy golden straw color with a nice 1-2 finger dense off white head with incredible retention that reduces to a thick cap that lasts the entire glass. Decent lacing on the glass; with extremely ample carbonation streaming up and keeping a dense head going. Aromas of big pepper, clove, lemon zest, grass, coriander, biscuit, orange peel, herbs, and yeast spices. Fantastic and well balanced aromas. Taste of big pepper, herbal, lemon zest, clove, biscuit, coriander, orange peel, grass, and yeast spices. Fairly dry finish; but some lingering notes of herbal, citrus peel, biscuit, and yeast spices on the finish for a bit. Medium high carbonation and medium bodied; with a slightly creamy and slick mouthfeel. Fair amount of prickly carbonation initially that dies down in the glass. Very smooth and drinkable for 8.4%; with only a slight alcohol warming on the finish. Overall this is an incredible Tripel, as I was expecting it to be. Fantastic and unique flavors; with great balance, complexity, and smoothness. It has taken me far too long to finally try this one.
