COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2015 I have had that several times since I’ve been introduced to real beers a few months ago. I still respect this very much but my interest for it is declining as I’m becoming used to other beer styles. This is an excellent belgian tripel, easy to drink, and full of flavours (banana-vanilla from the yeast, citrus from the wheat, spicy). Sweet, a little sour, and with a semi-dry finish. Well hidden alcohol for a tripel. Very well balanced. Of course you have to like belgian yeast and sweetness.

Bottle in Lovranski Pub. Wonderful hazy golden color with tiny bubbles screaming from the bottom of the glass. Thick, creamy white monster head. Aroma is amazing, something between a classic tripel and belgian wit. You can smell yeast, citrus, herbs, flowers, some ripe banana and notes of caramel. Taste is as above but with some wheat and herbal bitterness. Body is medium with a crispy lightly bitter finish. Overall: This is an incredible belgian beer. Definitely a must try for every beer lover!

Golden colour with creamy head. Aroma and flavours of different spices, barley, malts, fruits, especialy citrous, some bananas etc. Low carbonation and bitterness, sweet, almost dry finish. Very good, but not the best.

Smells very good with a hint of citrus. Not too fruity like some others. Pours a slightly hazy golden colour. Taste is just slightly fruity. Not overpowering. Lots of carbonation and head that lasts to the bottom of the glass. Overall I was very pleased with this beer. It was not overpowering and very smooth. Could never tell it was a beer of such high ABV. I have 2 more that I plan to cellar. I will follow up in the future. Highly recommended. MB

330ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a near three finger, white head. Carbonation streaming from the middle of the glass. Aroma has big notes of bubble gum, candy sugar, yeast, slight clove/spice. Very nice. Taste is balanced. Candy sugar, yeast, clove, bubble gum, ginger ale, slight banana and citrus, and a drawn out, pepper/spice ending. Medium-full body with high carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a carbonation that reminds me of ginger ale (slightly prickly), and a dry finish. Overall very nice. Can see why it is highly rated. Candy sugar, bubble gum, Belgian yeast, clove/pepper/spice, over top of a ginger ale like carbonation. No trace of alcohol.

330 ml bottle from LCBO. BB 19.11.16. Pours a perfect hazy gold with lots of white head. Nose is bursting with herbal funky yeast, banana, lemon, spices. Frothy mouthfeel. Taste follows the nose, super refreshing, minty, really nice Belgian yeast character. Great tripel.
