COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

Bottle. Cork popped off and hit my ceiling. Pours clear golden with big bubbly and fluffy white head. Aroma is spicy, fruity, earthy and alcohol. Taste is fruity up front like plums/peaches and then smoothes out with yeasty and malt. Finishes with a peach taste. Finishes dry. Medium body. Nice carbonation, like a sparkling wine. Not bad.

Big head. Be careful when pouring this beer. The taste is very good and complex and the aroma is very nice as well. Strong corbonation gives this beer a sparkling white or champagne like texture and it compliments the wheat and fruit like taste

750ml corked bottle. Bright gold with huge white head, last pour hazy with yeast sediment. Nose of apples, pear, hay, metal, mineral, funk, yeast, and some malt sweetness. Flavor is a nice blend of light fruit and dry yeast, slightly sweet throughout, with a drying, biting finish. Lively carbonation is not overdone. Nicely done, could be a bit deeper in flavors.

Bottle. White very high astonishingly creamy and good-looking head. Hazy light yellow body. Banana aroma. Flavor dominated by carbonation and a pleasant bitterness. Not what I expected from a beer whith banana flavor and a head like that. Pleasant surprise.

bottle. Aroma: First smell is skunkiness (damn you green bottles!). Later I get green apples and golden raisins, along with some sweet malt and an herbal smell. Appearance: Slightly hazy and light gold in color. Head was white and voluminous, but quickly died away. Not much lacing. Flavor: Slight skunkiness in flavor. After that, it’s raisins, coriander, orange, and wheat. Belgian yeast flavor not as present as would be expected. Alcohol tasted slightly in very back of mouth. Palate: Medium bodied. Carbonation was lively. Slightly sour aftertaste and nice alcohol warming on back of tongue and roof of mouth. Overall: If this had not been slightly skunked, I would have rated it higher. I’ll try to re-rate in the future. Besides the skunkiness, this is a very good, easy to drink, and accessible Tripel.

Dark yellow colored, hazy appearance. Big white head. Aroma is great: spices, touch of fruits and medium alcohol, which fits here well. Medium to full bodied. Flavor has also strong spices with vinous anis tones, aftertaste has obvious, almost too strong alcohol. Ending turns out to be slightly dry. World class tripel!

Pours yellow, white head, bubbling profusely, cloudy. Some malt, hops, flowers, bramley apples. Some off-sour smell there too. Taste iis slightly bitter, some apples, gassy, slightly dry aftertaste. No taste of alcohol at all. Easy drinking, smooth, if too carbonated.
