babil (3), , Spain does not count Jun 10, 2008 Pours apple golden yellow with a foaming white head. Creamy texture. Complex nose with fruits like banana, apple and peach.
Sweet palate, like caramel.
An excellent beer.
Visited Bosteels Browerij on ’07 summer and must say everyone should get there and enjoy a bottle of Tripel Karmeliet and a Deus as we did with the Bosteels family while having a great conversation about beer, wine and food. Fantastic time with great people; Belgian hospitality. Thank you Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA Jun 9, 2008 Updated: Sep 5, 2008Really? This beer is just terrible. It tastes like a bag of dead feet. Some bread that tastes like dry, rotten sour-dough and some raw-egg tastes overwhelm anything that could possible be good about this beer. It looks nice, it smells nice, but I poured out a $10 25oz bottle of this after the first three sips. Just absolutely awful. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jun 8, 2008 Golden yellow with airy bubbles. Aroma of fruit, coriander, orange and sweet malts. Taste of banana, fruit and alcohol. Smooth body with a medium carbonation feel and a dry finish with a fruity aftertaste crowderm (275), Recklinghausen, Germany Jun 7, 2008 Pours a very nice cloudy gold with a huge, but quickly fading soapy white head. The nose is bready, with the wheat really coming through, also some fruit and floral spice. The flavor is excellent; wow, very well balanced. Lots of fruit presence, but its nicely restrained - apple, grapefruit, orange, grapes. This fruit character is nicely coupled with a wheaty spice, and a light, but bready malt backbone. The mouthfeel is pretty similar to thick champagne, with a sweet dry finish. This is an excellent beer. FishManLA (284), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA Jun 1, 2008 Pours a bright golden color with a big white head that is both foamy and fizzy at the same time. The head dissipates fairly quickly. Nose of malts and fruits with some very subtle floral notes. Taste is complex and beautifully balanced with notes of apple, grape, citrus, hop, and spice. Champagne like carbonation on the palate and a sweet, dry finish like white wine. This is a thouroughly enjoyable brew. RomanW70 (297), Providence, Rhode Island, USA May 31, 2008 Pours orange gold with a substantial white head. Funk dominates the aroma, but there are detectable notes of caramel and citrus. Very heavy carbonated. Delicious. Starts out with notes of sweet malts and funk, very bready tand spicy hrough the middle, with a spice finish. An excellent beer. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 29, 2008 Updated: Oct 12, 2008Looks like Orval, a murky orange with a pillowy white head that dissipates. Noticeable carbonation bubbles in the glass and an amazing aroma it took me a while to pin it down but it smells like pineapple. Also quite the fragrant soap smell too it, intriguingly unlike any tripel I’ve had before. Light and tingly on the tongue and very little spiciness like other tripels. A fantastic beer. 8/4/8/4/16: 4.0.
Re-rate: Suttree’s 2008 Pre-Brewer’s Jam Tasting. Sample from a bottle shared by me. Same look, this sample from a 750mL instead of a 33cL seemed spicier with more citrus notes of oranges and lemons. Couldn’t pin down any pineapple this time and the body was much spicer with the same satisfying dry finish, still very good, but needs to come out of the 4 territory for me. yemenmocha (344), Glendale, Arizona, USA May 26, 2008 Pours apple juice golden yellow with contrasting white head.
Nose is complex with fruits such as peach, apricot, and apple.
On the palate the malt comes through with ample sweetness, with this ale having a rather candy like flavor. White licorice, cardamon, faint cinnamon, and light pepper are here as well.
Finishes lengthy and candy sweet, and all too easy to drink.
