First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

Shared 25.4 oz. bottle. Pours pale golden with a creamy white head. Wheat and spice aroma. Flavors of wheat, grains, spice, light banana, yeast, and a hint of citrus. Not picking up any vanilla, however. Creamy texture and medium-bodied. Not too sweet, and not too dry. Nice.

Aroma: could smell the spiciness from several feet away; fruity and complex up close; Appearance: golden straw with off white head that dissipates slowly; Taste: banana present, along with dryness almost reminiscent of champagne; wheaty but not too dominant; Palate: long, dry, slightly bitter finish; medium bodied; Overall: still not my favorite style, but much better than most wheaty beers; might buy again.

This is clearly a well made and balanced triple. Appearance is okay, mouthfeel nice, not alcoholic despite the abv. What really spoils it for me is the component of the taste my girlfriend calls fruity but i would call soapy...

Butelka. Barwa słomkowa, klarowne. Wysoka czapa białej piany, powoli opadającej. W aromacie banany, wanilia, pszenica. W smaku cytrusy zmieszane z wanilią, lekka pikantność na finiszu. Wysycenie wysokie, goryczka średnia niezalegająca.

My favourite tripel and go-to beers. Looks great in the glass - clear golden brew with a fine white head. Rich aroma of flowers, oranges, sweet apples. Refreshing taste, bitter and spicy, with notes of citrus hops, sweet spices, bread, a bit of Belgian yeast.

Well balanced beer. It sharp tangy and well rounded. Disguises its alcohol content extremely well. Itrs floral sparkling and springy. Pretty nice stuff.

Interesting brew. It comes across to me as a spiceless wit bier. The considerable abv is extremely well-hidden. Chewy, grainy, but with a smooth and, almost, refreshing finish. Very subtle hints of a saison seems to be a finishing profile.
