4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 ebmalon (58) - Georgia, USA - MAY 1, 2010
33cl bottle to tulip glass. Appearance is hazy straw yellow with champagne qualities. Two fingers of loose foamy head that retained throughout, surprisingly. Aroma is yeasty and sweet - a little caramel perhaps. Mouth was sweet with a slight hint of vanilla. Palate is earthy with a nice malty finish. Wow, this beer was impressive!
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 JohnRMurdoch (1387) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - APR 30, 2010
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Complex spicy grassy herb aroma. Unusual appearance - pours clear golden yellow at bottom, cloudy at top. Very strong spicy herby flavour. If it wasn’t so strong I would like it.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 beerfest5 (733) - Simsbury, Connecticut, USA - APR 28, 2010
one of the best tripels ive had, it seems like there are a few at the top of the list, and they are all fantastic, allagash, st bernardus, westmalle, etc. this one looked, smelled and tasted as a tripel should. hid the abv very well and was extremely enjoyable, and I was actually glad I got the smaller bottle instead of the 350 ml, felt like I had to enjoy it while it lasted.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dylan88 (208) - Rimini, ITALY - APR 25, 2010
33 cl bottle. Pours a medium golden color. Big foamy head. Looks highly carbonated. Strong, slightly sweet yeasty aroma. A little spiciness and maybe a little alcohol. Grainy flavor with a taste of alcohol. A little sweetness to go along with the yeast and spice.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 djd07 (1407) - Houston, Texas, USA - APR 24, 2010
On tap at Yardhouse. Pours a clear orange golden with a small frothy white head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is clove and yeast with bubblegum. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet fruit malt with a nice clean finish. Hides the alcohol well making it easy to drink. A very impressive abbey tripel.
4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 SSKD814 (854) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 21, 2010
A-Light hazy golden yellow body that pours with a 3 finger creamy white head. Head slowly fades to 1/2 finger. Decent head retention. In the end a thick collar is all that remains of the beautiful head. Plenty of lacing left behind in the glass. Body is translucent with a nice haziness all around and tiny bubbles constantly rising to the top.
S- Sweet, Spicy, and Bready. Lots of spicy yeast with a dry, fruity balance of pears, apples, and citrus.
T- Citrus, pears, and apples upfront with a bready/spicy yeast background. A slight sweetness emerges with the initial taste. The finish adds a touch of hop flavor to compliment the dry fruitiness. What lingers is a big spicy and sweet bready yeast taste along with a hint of alcohol bitterness.
P- Light carbonation and light body. Very smooth and creamy from the yeast.
O- This is a wonderful Tripel. At 8% ABV it has a slightly lower alcohol content then most. ABV is also very well hidden here which makes it all the more drinkable. Aside from that this brew is light, crisp, complex, and very tasty. Something that I will definitely pick up again
