4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Chaseman (49) - Massachusetts, USA - APR 4, 2010
Awesome Beer! Bought it at the Rockland Food Service in Rockland, ME. I saw the Rate Beer rating right there in front of it and had to try it. I was so glad that I did as a huge Belgian beer fan. This has made me an Abbey Tripel lover! I have a feeling that this will become a constant classic for me.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dfonorow (555) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - APR 3, 2010
This brew pours a light brown to golden yellow in color with extremely heavy carbonation. A large white head forms quickly and then fades into a small one finger wide ring. The aroma is of heavy pine, light fruits (grapes, orange, bananas), and hops. The initial taste is found to be a bit weak and includes notes of lighter hops, earth, and sweet fruits. Hides the alcohol very well, but besides that not much else is going on. Taste is lacking a little, but the texture and complexity is right there.

Big bottle. Poured a mostly clear golden color with a relentless everlasting Belgian head. Smelled notes of skunky orange peel and dough. Tasted coriander, plenty of basement aromas, and a slight spicy spruce flavor. Active yeast and carbonation in the mouth. Overall a very worthy trapist beer!

Pours a bright golden yellow color. Active carbonation throughout the session. Aromas of hops, fruit, and a little yeast. Has a light fruity citrus taste, with some yeasty notes, and a good hop flavor.

06 vintage 750ml poured into a karmeliet snifter. pours a fuzzy opaque pach color with a lively off white head that is sparse and quick to fade. has a nice funcky layer underneath of a sweet estery nose. the taste is to match, nice and complex. layers of sweet bananas, peppery cloves and funky tart notes unfold in every sip. good stuff, nice and balanced, and a good level of carb.

Bottle served in an oversized wine glass. Lightly hazed pale gold pour with a head that quickly fades into a small capping. The nose is lightly sweet with notes of bubblegum, floral, chamomile, and coriander. The flavor mimics the smell with the absence of the floral aspect and chamomile plays a larger role. Very easy to drink and not quite as complex as I had imagined it to be.

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2010 Refrigerated bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours a mostly clear golden color with medium white head that leaves pretty quick. Lacing is really nice. Taste is earthy fruity citrus, spicy hops, and finishes dry. Really good beer for the style, but I prefer Allagash Tripel.

Whoah, head, stop, stop!! It slowly started going over the glass, even after a modest pour into a flute glass. I guess this one’s more of a chalsice beer. Great head, as mentioned, clear gold colour. Heavy aroma of hops on the nose and little else. Taste is a satisfying mix between hops, citrus, wheat. Decent mouthfeel. Pretty good Belgian.
