Bottle conditioned.
First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

The missus loves this. An excellent beer. Spiced/sweet/tart/sour like other tripels but this has definite drink-ability that others can’t match. Serving: Bottle and Tap

Bottle. Big white head with very good retention. Hazy golden colour. Aroma is malty, spicy, citrus and fruity. Taste is coriander seeds, fruits (banana, citrus), some alcohol presence, clove hints and peppery finish. High carbonation and dry aftertaste. A very good beer.

J’ai vraiment détesté ! Elle est assez jolie, certes, mais autant au nez qu’à la bouche, on dirait du produit de vaisselle. Plus jamais.

The perfect blend between a triple and a white. All you need from a belgian triple and refreshing citrus aroma. Perfect when you’re thirsty.

Bottle in Lovranski Pub. Wonderful hazy golden color with tiny bubbles screaming from the bottom of the glass. Thick, creamy white monster head. Aroma is amazing, something between a classic tripel and belgian wit. You can smell yeast, citrus, herbs, flowers, some ripe banana and notes of caramel. Taste is as above but with some wheat and herbal bitterness. Body is medium with a crispy lightly bitter finish. Overall: This is an incredible belgian beer. Definitely a must try for every beer lover!

Golden colour with creamy head. Aroma and flavours of different spices, barley, malts, fruits, especialy citrous, some bananas etc. Low carbonation and bitterness, sweet, almost dry finish. Very good, but not the best.

Smells very good with a hint of citrus. Not too fruity like some others. Pours a slightly hazy golden colour. Taste is just slightly fruity. Not overpowering. Lots of carbonation and head that lasts to the bottom of the glass. Overall I was very pleased with this beer. It was not overpowering and very smooth. Could never tell it was a beer of such high ABV. I have 2 more that I plan to cellar. I will follow up in the future. Highly recommended. MB
