First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

Just want to make it clear that this beer is fantastic. However compared to other tripels I cant at all understand how its number one. Westmalle and la fin du monde blow it out of the water. Just my opinion.

On tap at Fermentøren, Copenhagen, DK. Hazy yellow with a thick, creamy, fully persisting white head, leaving a thick coat of lace on the glass. The aroma is malty, fruity, vaguely yeasty. The taste is on the sweet side with a moderate bitterness. Very soft on the palate, with a light bitter finish.

A favourite of mine. Hazy pale yellow colour with a huge foamy white head. Aroma of citrus and spices, hints of banana and vanilla. Extremely drinkable for the ABV, with perfectly balanced flavours - sweet, fruity, spicy, malty.

Aroma skunky, banana, bread, Appearance golden, hazy, frothy, white foam, Taste medium sweetness, Palate medium body, fizzy, lively, Overall it has the smell of a Heineken. I’m guessing the green bottle has something to do with it. The carbonation is very lively. You can feel the bubbles dance on your tongue. Luckily the taste is not skunky like the smell. I would suggest this beer to a friend.

Tåkete strågult med lavt skum. Duft av banan, lyst brød, krydder og tyggis. Honning er fremtredende i smaken. Tykk, sirupslignende munnfølelse med en positivt stikkende følelse. Bedre til lengre ned i glasset.

Easy to drink but sophisticated tripel. It combines some of the best elements from a great Weiss (breads and bananas), with pepper and lemon/citrus and yeast from a Belgian tripel, with a touch of creaminess from the oats. The initial nose was lemon, lemongrass and spice. The creamy palate makes it too easy to drink for an 8% beer.

Draft. Opaque, pale golden color with thin white head and substantial lacing. Orange citrus and coriander aroma. Wheat, coriander, and lemon-orange citrus print with some clove in the finish. Lighter, effervescent body. Refreshing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Não é por acaso ser considerada uma referência quando se fala em Tripel. Uma cerveja refrescante, saborosa, frutada e muito equilibrada.

Aroma of citrus, banana peel, cannabis. Appearance cloudy Canary yellow, with vibrant white head. Taste is light honey, lime, gooseberry. Palate is medium thick syrupy, low carbonation. Overall a terrific beer.

Une bière belge typique de bonne facture, couleur blonde dorée, belle mousse, forte sans être alcoolisée, très équilibrée. Beau travail.

Wonderful. Pours with a huge, white frothy head with tiny, champagne-like bubbles. The aroma initially shows why it is 8.4% ABV but gives away to gentle essences of wood, clove, subtle citrus tones and even a little bit of must. After the head subsides, a beautiful golden yellow color develops in the glass. It tastes like it smells, with a somewhat thin body but overall a delight. It isn’t hard to find and is one everyone who enjoys world class beers should give it a try. Prost !
