Bottle conditioned.
First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

330 ml bottle, at home. Poured into a tulip glass. ABV 8,4%. Clear golden yellow colour with a huge froathy head, good retention.. No activity in the glass and light lacing left behind. Some aroma of citrus fruits, some banana too. Taste is quite sweet and malty at first, the alcohol very well hidden, no obvious at all on the taste. Full body with quite a carbonation. A very nice beer.

Nice fruity aroma and smooth tasting, despite the rather high alcohol percentage. Keeps a good head.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2015 Poors cloudy blonde with generous head. Wonderfully well balanced tripel. Strong yet very subtle. One of my favorites.

Bottle. Pale yellow, large, fizzy and rather quickly disappearing white head. Medium to strong carbonation and lacing . Floral aroma typical of many Belgians, especially triples. Medium body, taste very much on the sweet side, hoppy element missing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

à servir dans son grand verre tant la mousse est généreuse, aérienne et onctueuse. nez floral et sucre. notes d’agrumes, très douce, légère amertume. Une excellente bière. Une grande bière.

An outstanding beer, great citrus and grassy nose, pours pure gold under a lovely head. Complex and fruity, with a hint of hop and a lot of herb and floral elements. Lasts a good long time. Nothing to complain about, this is a great beer. The one bottle I had in Amsterdam in July 2014 was not remarkably different from the several I have enjoyed at home.

Note floral au nez. Pas mal de mousse. Le sucre de l’alcool se sent. Couleur dorée. Bouche symparhique plus floral que sucré.

Looks refreshing with a bright golden color. Smells of fruity yeast esters, citrus, vanilla and light spices. More of the same in the taste. Also, wheat, honey, oat sweetness, faint banana, apple and lemon. Light to medium body and finishes dry. A very nice Tripel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
