Huge frothy white head. Clear golden colored, like a pilsener. It has a rich, sweet taste w/ some yeastiness. Nice, but not outstanding

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2007 Poured a light hazy straw gold with a very thick and profuse, creamy, offwhite head. The aroma was sweet and sharp, some spice, not as up front as expected. The flavor was spicy, warm from alcohol, dry hopped it seemed.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Butters (2843) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAY 26, 2009
Sampled at the Alexi TN distributor’s tasting; thanks Jim Bird! Above average for a tripel. All the typical flavors and aromas but just a little on the creamy side. Nice.

Draught at the Broad Street Tavern, Wokingham during their Belgian Beer Festival. Pale gold with scummy looking thin cream head; coriander aroma; rich, buttery texture in the mouth with apricot fruit flavours, served rather too cold to get the full depth of flavour; the finish is dry with more coriander. Excellent.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 alexanderj (2830) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - DEC 8, 2007
Bottle; poured a rich gold with a large white head. Aroma was very nice; of yeast, fruit, orange/citrus and spice. Flavor was very, very good. Had characteristics of a good hef or wit, just amped up a bit. Flavor had sweet sugary components; zesty orange and citrus hints; some mild spicing; and a nice banana, yeasty presence. Nice mouthfeel with some stronger carbonation and alcohol presence in the finish. A top notch and delicious brew; can’t believe I didn’t get around to rating this sooner.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2005 Pours a nice amberish gold color with a very impressive white fluffy head. Aroma had a great spice smell also very earthy. Very fruity and sweet with a nice crispy finish. Very smooth with a dry finish.

Yup, this one’s rather sweet. It’s a good-tasting brew, no doubt, but as with most Belgians, I can’t pin down the flavors. The alcohol comes through a bit strong, I think. For a ’tripel’, I might have expected a heavier, maltier brew, but I ain’t complainin’.

Although I am not a great fan of Belgian Tripels I did find this a quite pleasant drink.Quite fruity and comlex with lacing that lasts as you work your way down the glass. Not easily avaiable in England but well worth searching for.
