First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

33 cl bottle shared two ways. Light hazy golden pour. Lots of yeast, spices, raisins and grains on the nose. Taste is yeasty with sweet honey, some herbal notes and light banana candy.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2016 Tap@Søernes. Pours clear golden with some white head that quickly fades. Aroma is semi-sweet and biscuit with prominent coriander in a complex warm fruity manner. Taste is biscuit malty, with fruity notes and surprisingly dry, despite the sweetness in the aroma. Taste has balanced spices with coriander as the most prominent and some esters with banana flavor. End is fruity yet semi-dry with laid back bitterness. High drinkability.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Still working my way through the classics. Pours a glowing golden orange with a huge foamy head that quickly dissipates. Honey and biscuits on the nose with yeast and light cinnamon and clove notes. Very active carbonation with the same flavors above and a touch of mint. Great hoppy bitterness on the finish with honey, lemon and pepper. A great beer that lives up to the hype.

Solid! 33 cl, flaske, 8.4 % ABV, BB: 15/03/18, købt i Den Belgiske Ølbutik i Vanløse. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Beautiful golden color. The taste is sweet and smooth, but on the downside alcohol is noticeable. Thickness is good but carbonation is on the high side. Overall a great beer for its type.

Drinking from a 33 cl bottle. In the aroma hop, alcohol. The clear yellow beer has a medium white head. In the taste sweet, nice balance. Medium carbonated.

Bottled. No one serves Chinese beer here! Pours hazy golden with a white head (the waiter poured it badly). Slightly yeasty and wheaty flavor with clove aroma.
