First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

Wow this was quite an experience! Some people told me that I should try this one so I bought it immediatly and drank it the same evening. Very big white head. Sweet, fruity notes with a great palate in the mouth. I almost didn’t noticed that there was 8% alcohol in it. Can’t wait to drink this one on tap.

Bottle. Aroma of fresh flowers. Taste is a bit soapy, and to much a weiss beer for me.

From bottle. Hazy gold with large white foamy head. Slightly yeasty, citrus aroma. Taste of vanilla, biscuit, pear and banana. Very refreshing beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I’m not a fan of this flavor. It’s kind of funky. Sampled at the Tap & Growler, Eugene, OR.

Pours hazy golden yellow with a massive white head. Soft malty body with bread, esters, banana... Mild bitterness, drinks below it’s ABV. Great tripel.

Bottle traded from YantarCoast. Thanks. Pours straw yellow with big dense white head which stays for long. Thick lacing there is. The aroma reveals massive spicy yeast, wheat, corn & some fruit. Medium to full body. Oily texture. Malty & yeasty taste. White bread, spices, slight alcoholic touch, corn. Light bitterness appears at ending. Strangely I’m getting a feel of an well-muscled witbier drinking this. A good beer. Still I can’t get why it’s considered to be the best Tripel of Belgian origin. I’ve had a few more interesting examples.

Flaska bishops Örebro. Halmgul och disig kulör. Doft av jäst, koriander, gröna bananer och säd. Liknande i smak. Viss sömta i eftersmak utan märkvärd beska.

Certainly one of the best triples around. Pours a slight orangey somewhat hazy body but has a lovely clean taste with hints of fruit and spice on the finish,

Bottle into a snifter. Pours a hazy light yellow with a huge white head that lasts. Nose is vanilla, caramel, and Belgian yeast. Taste follows, with a hint of banana. Delicious.
