detroitsteel (208), England Dec 22, 2006 Updated: Aug 28, 2007 Comes in one of the best beer glasses I’ve ever seen. The Flur De Lys enscribed tulip Holds a full head, lovely golden hue. The flavour is classic Belgian strong ale sweetness - banana and honey - combined with wonderfull spices: corriander powder, cinamon and nutmeg. Its strong but the alcohol takes second place to flavours. As a long time Duvel drinker I can’t believe its taken me this long to find this beer - Its a truly wonderfull drink. Re sampled recently, and I’ve knocked it down a peg or 2. Got to be tough with those high marks!
kidmartinek (533), austin, Texas, USA May 12, 2008 Apple juice colored. 1/2 inch white head only lasts a few minutes. Light sweet and sour flavor. Light fizzy texture. Body is medium heavy though. Flavor is overall a little malty, sour and fizzy. Finish remains spritzy for a while. It comes across as somewhere between a champaigne an a beer and hides its alcohol well. soyorganic (26), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 11, 2008 Bottle: light copper color with a small head that dissipates quickly. A smooth softly sweet Belgian that is not over the top with any flavor, but is quality and nicely representative. Alcohol taste was not noticeable. Pyobon (96), Sydney, Australia May 11, 2008 Bottle. Clear and golden wth reasonable, although short-lived, white head. Beautiful complex aroma with spice, fruit and malt. Smooth mouthfeel, full bodied with good carbonation. The flavour is excellent and quite complex. It starts with some fairly clean fruit and malt tastes and then some spiciness kicks in. The main spiciness is coriander. It ends with a fair amount of hoppy bitterness and alcohol and some very long lingering fruity (banana) notes. Overall an excellent beer and a somewhat unusual tripel; not very complex and with a fairly bitter finish. tomer (143), Israel May 11, 2008 0.33L bottle. Small quickly disapearing head, deep darkish golden colour with some sediment at the end. Aroma of fruit smoked meat (maybe bacon) and a touch of malt. Carbonation is extremely strong, almost abrasive.
Flavour of peach, melonand cremy vanila with a strong sweet alcoholic presence. Aftertaste is fruity, long and lingering. Ober (119), Best, Netherlands May 10, 2008 A clear yellow colored beer, with a huge white head. The glass for this beer is huge too. The head head disappears quite soon. The aroma has nice coriander, spices, malts and some fruit. The taste is malty too, sweet with nice fruits and malty tones. It’s not to complex beer, but very tasteful.
