COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

33cl bottle. Served in a trappist glass. Can’t believe I haven’t rated this one yet - probably my 15th bottle or so. Appearance: Cloudy orange, high carbonation, huge, pillowy snow-like head. Very inviting. Aroma: This is my favourite beer to smell. It’s always slightly different. Strong notes of bubblegum, vanilla, banana, orange, cloves. Overall very sweet, fairly fruity, and someone spicy. Palate: medium-thick bodied, smooth, tiny hint of a dry finish (unlike most other tripels). Taste: Sweet, but not as sweet as the aroma suggests it should be. It’s rich, but not overwhelmingly so like a barley wine. Slight hints of dry bitterness in the finish, but it’s very subtle. I feel there is no way they could actually improve this beer.

Mi belga favorita sin duda, una cerveza con 3 tipos de grano diferentes y más de 8 grados de alcohold pero perfectamente equilibrada. Una birra única.

Large frothy white lasting head with cloudy yellow body. Hay hops and heavy resin and citrus hops. Fill oily body with lively carbonation. Long duration flavor moderately sweet, acidic and acidic. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

from a bottle: nice light golden color, small head dispersed quickly, almost no lacing. Wonderful aroma, definite banana overtone, spicy. Immediately a favorite and one I look forward to drinking again. Drinking this type of beer will make it increasing more difficult to drink lesser brews...don´t say you weren´t forewarned....highly recommended

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2016 Au fût. Couleur jaune clair. Mousse peu abondante. Arômes de fruits. Bouche, d’abord bien fraiche puis de nombreuses goûts fruités : citron, banane, raisin, ananas ... Arrière bouche moyennement longue avec peu d’amertume. Bonne triple sans arrière-pensée de génial/beer ! Je goûterai en bouteille pour comparaison !

This is the best of old Belgium/Kempen brewing traditions in a bottle of glass. Refreshing, a bit spicy, wheats, dry, a tad of lemon. Long-lasting aftertaste. Among the very best of European beers.
