Bottle conditioned.
First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

33cl bottle. Served in a trappist glass. Can’t believe I haven’t rated this one yet - probably my 15th bottle or so. Appearance: Cloudy orange, high carbonation, huge, pillowy snow-like head. Very inviting. Aroma: This is my favourite beer to smell. It’s always slightly different. Strong notes of bubblegum, vanilla, banana, orange, cloves. Overall very sweet, fairly fruity, and someone spicy. Palate: medium-thick bodied, smooth, tiny hint of a dry finish (unlike most other tripels). Taste: Sweet, but not as sweet as the aroma suggests it should be. It’s rich, but not overwhelmingly so like a barley wine. Slight hints of dry bitterness in the finish, but it’s very subtle. I feel there is no way they could actually improve this beer.

Tripel Karmeliet stand for me as Liquid Gold. Nice Smell, yeasty, but what a perfect look! Its one of the most handsome beers around. The top is just beatiful, perfect, clean, homogeneus and symmetric. Taste is very sophisticated, peach in vodka style.

Biała, trudna do opanowania piana, mimo swej objętości szybko opada do obrączki, barwa bardzo jasna, słomkowa, zamglona. W aromacie troszkę żółtych owoców, przypraw, trawiastego chmielu, kwiatów i mocno wyczuwalna żelazistość, którą niestety potwierdza test skórny.

Bottle from Plonk. A little overflow from the bottle on opening. Pour is crystal clear deep golden with huge bubbly head. Aroma and flavour is those distinct complex ’tripel’ fruity yeast esters (hard to put words to them), somewhat subtle compared to other tripels. Subtle sweetness to start but finishes dry with moderate bitterness and warming alcohol. Very high carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Excellent beer.

Thin head golden beer. Faint aroma. Well hidden alcohol in this beer. Very clean with a nice aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear and pale golden with a frothy white head. Looks great! Fruity aroma of citrus, esters (banana) and hay. Full body, creamy feel, lively carbonation. Rich taste of lemon, spices, licorice and some alchohol. Long finish, both sweet and bitter.

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2015 Fantastisch bier! Fruitig, mooie gouden kleur, goede schuimkraag... elke slok smaakt naar meer. Misschien wel het beste bier dat ik ken, sowieso de beste tripel. Deze kan ik blijven drinken (en dat doe ik dan ook)...

Pours a cloudy pale gold with big, weiss-like head. Fruity aroma with loads of citrus, almost like lemonade, also some hay, bananas, brie cheese and a hint of spent matches. The palate is medium-full bodied with much the same notes. Very refreshing except for a touch of boosy heat. The finish is medium length with a touch of acidity and bitterness.

33 cl bottle @ home. Hazy golden yellow beer, good white head. Refreshing aroma of spices, banana, vanilla, citrus. Dry palate, taste is sweet at first, hoppy aftertaste. Very nice beer.
