Dogbrick (2209), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 20, 2008 Sample at the brewpub. This brew pours nearly black with a thin beige head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and a bit of hops. Medium-bodied and smooth with flavors of roasted coffee, malt and chocolate. Touches of hops are present too. The finish is roasty with chocolate malt aftertaste. Above average overall.
torourke (7), West Melbourne, Florida, USA does not count Jul 14, 2008 This beer is very dark for a porter and smells and tastes more like a light stout. It’s a bit watery with a roast malt flavor and could use a bit more hops. There is a slight chocolate taste at the end of each sip that is enjoyable. The ABV is low so one could have quite a few of these before getting wasted. My second favorite standard beer at the Triple 7 brewpub at Main Street Station. BeerBelcher (709), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jun 20, 2008 Definitely the best of the Triple 7 beers I tried during my visit. This beer was by no means great, and none of the beers I had from here was bad, but this was king among the 3 that were all...not bad.
Dark as the ace of spades with a full tan head. Aroma was faint, but chocolatey, roasty, and a bit smokey. Flavor was the same. Mouthfeel was a bit watery, but not bad. Quite drinkable for a porter, owing at least something to the wateriness.
Nonetheless, I would recommend this beer.
I had this on-tap at the brewery. egajdzis (2947), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA May 25, 2008 [Draft @ brewpub] Poured a dark mahogany color with a small, tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, anise, roast, and light smoke. Taste of more anise, roasted malts, and chocolate as well. BelgianBeerGal (882), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Feb 2, 2008 Draught at brewpub. Very dark colour with a medium tan head. Slight aroma of smoke, chocolate and soy sauce? Flavour was pleasant with more chocolate plus coffe and malt.
